Objectives

To provide the AHFSA general membership


information about the Association, its
structure, strategic map and additional
information that will enable members to
become actively involved with Association.

AHFSA Mission Statement


To strengthen the role of its members in
advocating, establishing, overseeing, and
coordinating health care quality
standards that will promote the quality
of services provided by health care
facilities, agencies, and programs by
ensuring they meet established
standards.

Strategic Goals
Three Goals:
1. Member Advocacy to various Organizations and
Agencies;
2. Communication with Membership; and
3. Professional Development of Membership

Goal 1: Member Advocacy to


Various Organizations and Agencies
Strategies:

Establish and maintain relationships and


communication with CMS and other organizations.
Serve as the liaison and unified voice for all state
AHFSA member with CMS and other organizations
on policy issues impacting members.
Increase communication between CMS and other
organizations and the AHFSA Board of Directors and
membership.

Promote and positively market AHFSA to other


organizations and partner on issues of mutual
concern/interest.
Promote active member involvement and
participation on CMS and other entities taskforces or
workgroups that will promote and benefit the AHFSA
membership mission.
Promote AHFSA within the states through briefings
at board meetings, monthly conference call updates
on CMS and other entities, and development of
position statements on behalf of the membership.

Goal 2: Communication with


Membership
Strategies:

Redesign and maintain the AHFSA website to provide


a conduit for easy access of information of
importance to the membership and to market the
organization.
Periodic electronic newsletter containing articles and
information of interest to members.
Monthly membership calls to provide updates and
other information/discussion on topics of interest to
the membership.

Quarterly board/membership meetings to promote


strategic planning, networking among members and
other entities, and information sharing.
Increase communication between AHFSA Board,
Regional Representatives, and AHFSA members.
Increase member participation through outreach.
Create a workgroup to look at methods to
communicate effectively with membership.

Goal 3: Professional Development


of Membership
Strategies:

Promote Professional Development through training


on topics of importance to the membership at the
annual training conference and at quarterly
board/membership meetings.
Develop and implement a New SSA Director
Recognition, Training, and Mentorship program.

Utilize the AHFSA website as a resource for member


communications, listing of subject matter experts
within membership, and as a source to access other
resources and links to other sites.
Promote all state AHFSA membership participation
in quarterly board/membership meetings and the
annual training conference.
Create a workgroup made up of the Vice President
and Regional Representatives to develop the role of
the regional representative including outreach to
region states and new State Survey Agency Directors
in the region.
