All You Need To Know to Get Started

This book exists because meridian tapping has not reached
its full potential and you and I are probably both vastly under
using it. Most people treat it as a method for handling welldefined problems and are thankful for that help. However,
this is not all that tapping can do.
There are a handful of tapping enthusiasts who take Gary
Craigs often repeated advice to try it on everything seriously,
and they achieve some remarkable results. However, even
these people define everything in their own individual ways,
and the odds are high that they are not using tapping in most
of the ways described in the book, Multiply the Power of EFT,
from which this e-book is derived.
What is more, even that book represents only the tip of
the iceberg as far as tappings usages are concerned. New
discoveries are constantly being made in this area, and much
of what tapping will eventually accomplish is still unknown.
The reason its wise to expand the ways you presently use
tapping can best be understood by the following anecdote.
Imagine that a computer-nave person has purchased a
top of the line computer because they have heard it is the
best and they want nothing less than this for themselves and
their family. This particular model is so powerful, however,
that it can run every new application on the market, has the
maximum amount of memory available today, and possesses
all the latest high-tech features in short, it is an electronic
wonder.
1

All You Need To Know to Get Started

Imagine then that someone asks this computer owner how

they like this new computer, and they answer with a smile,
Oh, its great! I can get e-mail from my family now from all
over the world and I can see my childrens and grandchildrens
pictures the day theyre taken!
The computer they bought obviously serves this persons
immediate needs but so might a much lesser model. The
point is that they have no idea of the capacities of this
machine. What it can do for them in other areas of their lives
is unknown. It is as if they had acquired a Mercedes Benz
and were using it to ride to town to do basic shopping, but
had never thought of trying it out on major highways or in
mountain territory. They would never know the power of that
engine.
This is the way that most people use meridian tapping it
serves them for a limited purpose for which they are often
very grateful, and thats all they use it for. There is nothing
wrong with doing this of course, but this book is about the
extraordinary potential of this method. Its aim is to expand
your use of tapping beyond what you ever dreamed could be
possible.
Here we will tell you how you can expand your use of
tapping by building it into your everyday life.

Chapter 1
Use Meridian Tapping
as Emotional Cleansing
All of us must clean up our environment to some extent
each day in order to operate effectively. Whether we are
brushing our teeth, washing the dishes or doing the laundry,
we spend considerable time each day making sure that debris
does not accumulate on our possessions or our bodies to the
point where it is injurious to our health or detrimental to our
functioning. This daily cleansing is taken for granted.
When it comes to cleaning out emotional debris that is
hampering us and blocking optimal functioning, however,
most of us are more neglectful. Even though we may not allow
a heavy build-up of plaque on our teeth, we think nothing
of allowing a heavy buildup of resentments, worries, sadness
and other undesirable emotions to accumulate in our systems;
despite all the damage they are capable of creating.
In talking about the use of meridian tapping in our daily
lives, I can think of no more relevant topic than how to use
tapping as an emotional cleansing ritual.
We will now tell you how to ensure that you tap in this
fashion is to couple it with one or more of the physical
cleansing rituals that you regularly undertake already. Linking
it to these already established rituals will make you much less
apt to forget the important step of using tapping on a regular
basis to allow your life to flow smoothly.

All You Need To Know to Get Started

Here are some ways that have been reported to me by

people who are successfully linking tapping with their regular
cleansing rituals.

Tapping in the Shower

A number of people are enthusiastically tapping while
taking their morning shower, and some enjoy it in their
evening shower as well. Typically, they select a topic to tap
on that addresses an unresolved issue from the day before, or
an anticipated experience of the day to come. Their tapping
set-up phrase is therefore directed to the immediate past or
the immediate future. Occasionally someone will work on an
ongoing issue as they shower.
The effect of tapping while showering is quite different
from that of ordinary tapping. You can position your head
for example so that the water splashes over your face and
shoulders in a way that actually blends with the tapping of
the spots. The effect is that of a double cleansing! Both your
inner and outer beings are being washed at the same time!
I suggest you try it when you next take a shower and see if
it is for you. Anticipatory emotional cleansing with tapping
each morning can create a surprisingly satisfying day ahead.

Wash Your Worries Away in the Shower

Think of an unresolved issue of the day before,
or something you anticipate happening in the
coming day about which you have concern.

Position yourself in the shower so that the water

splashes over your face and shoulders. Imagine
it washing away your worries as you tap.
When your stress level has come down, take a
few seconds to feel the water washing away the
very last remnants of this issue.

Let the Water & the Tapping

Clear Them

Tap until they are washed away.

Tapping While Brushing Your Teeth

While tapping can be done under the shower, you may
need to just imagine tapping on the various comfort spots
and think, rather than say out loud, your phrases when you
are combining tapping with other cleansing rituals such as
brushing your teeth. You may even decide not to imagine
the tapping at all but just think the phrases to yourself in
coordination with this brushing this in itself can be very
beneficial. Using mental tapping when brushing your
teeth can be very satisfying, and if you are using an electric
toothbrush, mentally thinking your tapping phrase before you
move on to the next spot works nicely.
But beware! You will probably brush your teeth longer
and more thoroughly if you combine this activity with tapping
and may have better dental health as a result! This can be an
unexpected side effect of tapping during this familiar ritual.
The combination of physical and emotional cleansing can give
you an amazingly refreshed feeling afterwards. It is a natural
and easy way of incorporating tapping into a daily routine
that you know you will do because you always have.

Clear Your Problems

While You Brush Your Teeth
Think of an unresolved issue of the day before,
or something you anticipate happening in the
coming day about which you have concern.

Brush your teeth normally and do Mental

Tapping as you feel your teeth becoming clean
and sparkling. Imagine that you are scrubbing
away your worries by doing this.
When your stress level has come down, rinse
out your mouth and feel the water washing
away the very last remnants of the issue.

Use Mental Tapping

Even though this meeting is it, I choose

to be calm and confident

Tapping While Doing Household Chores

There are many other cleansing rituals that you can
effectively combine with tapping. Several people have told me
that they tap mentally while washing the dishes and that this
has an excellent effect upon them. It is possible for them to
repeat the words out loud if they are alone, and they report a
satisfying sense of completion when combining tapping with
the cleaning of the dishes, and as an added bonus, it makes the
dish washing easier and pleasanter for them.
What you are doing when you link tapping to a cleansing
activity that is already a part of your everyday life is to establish
a natural link between external physical cleansing and internal
emotional cleansing. Once established, like any other habit,
this can work strongly to your advantage. I suggest you explore
the possibility of using tapping in this manner. You may be
pleasantly surprised, as I was, at how this can enrich your life
and leave you feeling lighter and refreshed in spirit.
You will find a number of other suggestions for combining
tapping with familiar cleansing routines at the end of this
chapter, and it is very likely that you will come up with some
ingenious ideas of your own once you get the swing of it.
Try this, and see how enjoyable it can be!

Clear Your Worries As You Do

Your Household Chores
Think of an unresolved issue of the day before,
or something you anticipate happening in the
coming day about which you have concern.

Go about your daily household tasks normally,

and do Mental Tapping as you do them. Feel
your problems releasing along with the dirt
and dust you are cleaning away, or the wrinkles
you are smoothing out. Imagine that you are
putting your life fully in order by doing this.
When your stress level has come down, do one
round of actual physical tapping and imagine
it ridding you of the very last remnants of the
issue.

Your Daily Stress Check

We have covered many ways in which you can blend
tapping comfortably into your daily schedule. But how do you
know when it is particularly important that you do tapping?
This is a tricky matter because during crises, or when
making urgent decisions, or at any other moment of heightened
stress, we are the most apt to forget to tap! My suggestion is
a preventive measure which I consider an excellent way for
you to prepare yourself for the day ahead and whatever it may
bring.
I recommend that you do a Stress Check regularly each
morning reasonably soon after waking up. Many people like
to do it when brushing their teeth because thats something
they are sure to do each morning. However, it can be linked
to eating breakfast, getting into your car or onto public
transportation, or to anything else that you do on a regular
basis early in the morning.
A Stress Check is easy to do. It simply involves bringing
to mind one or more problems that are currently bothering
you. When doing the Stress Check you ask yourself, What is
uppermost in my mind right now that is causing me at least some
tension or stress? How distressed do I feel about it (on a 0 to 10
point scale)? Then use tapping right on the spot to clear any
issue that turns up.
The issues you identify when answering these questions
can consist of almost anything something that is going
wrong with your plans, a physical distress, a deadline which
must be met, or whatever else may be causing tension for you.
The point is to stop when you identify a troublesome issue and
immediately create a tapping statement to deal with it. Here
14

All You Need To Know to Get Started

are some examples of this plan in action:

Suppose an important plan of yours has gone awry and the
situation isnt going to pan out the way you expected it to. A
useful tapping statement for this might be:
Even though my plans have been upset, I choose to be aware of
the things that are going right in my life.

Or, if youre annoyed at another person or situation, you

might use:

Even though this problem (or person) is bothering me, I choose

to know exactly how to handle (him/her/it).
Or, if youre not feeling up to par you might use:

Even though I have this pain (distress etc.), I choose to know

that it will pass (or I choose to obtain really helpful treatment
from a health professional).

Statements such as the above place a positive tapping

Choice at the end of the tapping statement (this is the
tapping Choices Method). You can also use the EFT default
statement at the end of the statement if you wish (e.g. I deeply
and completely accept myself ) or the Choices Method default
statement, I choose to be calm and confident.
The point of the Stress Check is to a bring your stress
level down to as close to a 0 or 1 as you can by using tapping.
Then, ask yourself, What else is bothering me somewhat (or a
lot) today?
This second question may well bring up other issues to
tap on. If you dont have time to tap right away on your next
issue I suggest you write a tapping statement for it on a 3 by
5 index card, put it into your pocket or purse, and tap on it it
later in the day.
Or, you may want to use the helpful method of setting up
15

All You Need To Know to Get Started

a tapping folder on your computers desktop in which you

store tapping statements you want to tap on at a later time.
You can also use an all-purpose tapping phrase after you do
your Stress Check. This can be particularly useful when you
dont identify anything that is particularly disturbing to you,
because it can prepare you to cope particularly well during the
day ahead. Here are two all-purpose preparatory statements
that I especially like:
Even though I dont know what today will bring, I choose to
be calm and confident and handle whatever happens.

Or, Even though I dont know what today will bring, I choose
to use tapping successfully to handle whatever comes up.

Your Stress Check need not be done only at the beginning

of your day. It can be very helpful to conduct a Stress Check
just before you go to bed at night to clear lingering issues
from the day, and doing a Stress Check one or more times
during the day can be an excellent way to bring down your
stress build-up on a particular day. When you do frequent
Stress Checks, you will tend to become more effective in all
aspects of your life.
Actually, if there were one single thing that I would advise
you to do to ensure that you use tapping with maximum
benefit on a daily basis; I would recommend that you institute
a Stress Check. This simple activity can be extremely effective
in calling your attention to your need to tap. It will probably
help you use tapping in a much more effective manner than
you have before.

16

Lighten Emotional Burdens with Your

Daily Stress Check
Sit in a comfortable place and quietly bring to
mind one or more issues that are concerning
you.

When you identify a troublesome issue stop

immediately and create a tapping statement to
deal with it.
Tap on this statement and bring your stress
level down as close to a 0 or 1 as you can by
using tapping.

Notice any other troublesome issues and tap

them down too, now or later.

Remember to do a Stress Check first thing in

the morning, before you go to bed at night, or
any time during the day when tension starts to
build up.

Start the Day Right

tap for any concerns, and enjoy the

day ahead
