If we say something positive in English then we use sentences like this:
He is busy today. They are happy today. I am tired. When we form a question using the verb to be we change the order of the words: to be + subject + object Is he busy today? Yes, he is. / No, he isnt. (busy) Are they happy today? Yes, they are. / No they arent. (happy) Are you tired? Yes, I am. / No, Im not. (tired) It is acceptable to just use a short response. It is not necessary to repeat certain words in the answer. If the person wants to know more they will just ask you another question! Practice: 1. Respond to the following questions. Example: Are they in the caf? (Yes) Yes, they are. Is he at lunch now? (No) ____________________________________________ Are you busy at the moment? (No) ____________________________________________ Are they in Santiago at the moment? (Yes) ____________________________________________ Is it Friday today?
