Planning Collaboration
Overview
Goal: To present, get & give feedback on, and
collaboratively revise the plan of the lesson being
observed.

Lesson Presentation
Goal: To know what has already been planned by the
teacher, including standards being taught, overall
lesson structure, and focus TEAM indicator.
Time: 10 minutes

O What is the focus TEAM indicator?
O How will student success look in this lesson?
O What unique factors are at play in this

classroom and lesson plan?

Clarifying Questions
Goal: To gain a greater understanding of the lesson as it
is currently planned.
Time: 5 minutes

O Questions to consider:
O What do you still want to know about the lesson

as it is currently planned?
O What do you need to know to better understand
the context of this teachers classroom?
O Be careful to avoid suggestions/feedback

disguised as clarifying questions

Planning Input
Goal: To revise the plan using the collective expertise of all
teachers.
Time: 10 minutes

O Questions to consider:
O What have you seen teachers have success with

in the past?
O How could the teacher provide more
opportunities to practice their focus TEAM
indicator?
O Which parts of the lesson will have the greatest
impact on student learning?

Goal: To enter the classroom with the skills
and focus needed to observe purposefully.

Goal: To have an idea of what to look for as you enter a
classroom to observe.
Time: 10 minutes
O 2 minutes of setup
O 3 minutes of individual brainstorming
O 5 minutes to create a group list

Goal: To be prepared to take notes during your

Goal: To reflect on and process the feedback you just
received.

O What is something that you were glad to hear?
O What is something that you were surprised to
hear?

Planning Adjustments
Goal: To revise the lesson plan to reflect changes that
should be made in the future based on the feedback
that was just given and received.
Time: 10 minutes

O How could the lesson itself be strengthened?
O If someone were to pick up this lesson plan

and teach it cold, what else would they need


to know?
O Which parts should be added or deleted?

Goal: To reflect on this process and provide
feedback to facilitators.
