Corporation
assesses
students
in
a
variety
of
ways,
then
uses
that
data
to
guide
instruction
and
determine
needed
differentiations.
Following
are
descriptions
of
the
standardized
tests
used
across
the
corporation.
Summative
State-wide
Tests
ISTEP+
(Indiana
Statewide
Testing
for
Educational
Progress-Plus)
measures
student
achievement
in
the
subject
areas
of
English/language
arts,
mathematics,
science,
and
social
studies.
In
particular,
ISTEP+
reports
student
achievement
levels
according
to
the
Indiana
Academic
Standards
that
were
adopted
by
the
Indiana
State
Board
of
Education.
The
ISTEP+
assessment
is
criterion-referenced
and
is
designed
to
measure
students
mastery
of
the
standards.
The
ISTEP+
End
of
Course
Assessments
(ECAs)
are
criterion-referenced
assessments
developed
specifically
for
students
completing
their
instruction
in
Algebra
I,
Biology
I,
or
English
10.
The
Indiana
Reading
Evaluation
And
Determination
(IREAD-3)
assessment
measures
foundational
reading
standards
through
grade
three.
Based
on
the
Indiana
Academic
Standards,
IREAD-3
is
a
summative
assessment
that
was
developed
in
accordance
with
HEA
1367
(also
known
as
PL
109
from
2010)
which
"requires
the
evaluation
of
reading
skills
for
students
who
are
in
grade
three
beginning
in
the
Spring
of
2012
to
ensure
that
all
students
can
read
proficiently
before
moving
on
to
grade
four."
The
National
Center
and
State
Collaborative
(NCSC)
Assessment,
an
alternate
assessment,
is
aligned
with
college-
and
career-ready
standards.
The
NCSC
Assessment
is
designed
to
replace
ISTAR
in
the
areas
of
English/Language
Arts
and
Mathematics
beginning
in
2014-15.
Students
will
interact
directly
with
the
items
on
the
NCSC
Assessment.

Indiana
will
continue
to
use
ISTAR
to
assess
Science
and
Social
Studies
for
non-diploma-track
students.
WIDA
(World-Class
Instructional
Design
and
Assessments)
is
used
in
Indiana
to
determine
a
student's
level
of
English
proficiency.
This
is
for
students
for
whom
English
is
not
their
primary
language.
Formative
Tests
used
at
North
Judson-San
Pierre
mCLASS
assessments
provide
diagnostic
measures
for
K-2
students
in
literacy
and
numeracy,
and
improve
student
achievement
through
formative
tools
that
support
growth
and
early
intervention.
mCLASS:Reading
3D
and
mCLASS:Math
help
identify
students'
foundational
skills
and
provide
teachers
with
instructional
guidance
based
on
student
performance
on
benchmark
assessments
and
regular
progress
monitoring.
Acuity
assessments
provide
diagnostic
measures
for
grade
3-8
students
in
English/language
arts,
mathematics,
science,
social
studies,
as
well
as
for
students
enrolled
in
Algebra
I
and
English
10.
Assessment
reports
provide
standards-aligned
performance
data,
which
support
an
educator's
ability
to
inform
instruction
at
the
student-,
class-,
school-,
and
corporation-level.
Scholastic
Reading
Inventory
(SRI)
is
a
reading
assessment
program
used
in
grades
1-10
which
provides
immediate,
actionable
data
on
students'
reading
levels
and
tracks
growth
over
time.
SRI
helps
educators
differentiate
instruction,
make
meaningful
interventions,
forecast
growth
toward
grade-level
state
tests,
and
demonstrate
accountability.
