ABSTRACT

Automatic White Balance is a key function to remove undesirable

colour cast in digital cameras. This technique has the aim of ensuring colour
consistency of the captured image over a wide range of light sources with
different colour temperatures.
Some of the existing techniques employed for white
balancing are Tone mapping and Histogram equalisation. In this method the
illuminent is identified and gaining coefficients are computed .The colour
components are multiplied with corresponding gains to get the result image. The
drawbacks of these systems are low colour consistency and increased
computational complexity. The proposed method involves dividing the picture
into multiframes and exposing each colour component differently rather than
multiplying it with a constant. Enhanced colour consistency with improved signal
to noise ratio is expected for the proposed work. It is also planned to modify this
approach to blurred outdoor images .
Codings are to be done using MATLAB. Image processing
tool is used. The proposed architecture is well suited for image processing
applications.
