Martin Luther King Jr.


Martin Luther King Jr. was the person who gave up his life for us to be equal and not be
separated by the color of our skin. He led protests and boycotts just to make his dream come true.
Also he gave speeches to people to change their mind to make then realize discrimination was
wrong.
King was born in Atlanta Georgia, on January 15, 1929 (Biography.com). Martin parents
are Alberta William king and Martin Luther King Sr. (Biography.com). He grew up in a black
neighborhood name Sweet Auburn. King attended segregated schools as a kid and at the age of
15 he was admitted to Morehouse College, where he studied medicine and law (Biography.com).
Martin Luther King married Coretta Scott on 1953 (Biography.com). King had 4 kids 2
girls and 2 boys. The 2 girls are Yolanda Denise King (1955-2007) and Benice Albertine King
(1963), The 2 boys are Martin Luther King III (1957) and Dexter Scott King (1961). In 1959
Martin went to India to meet with the family of Mahatma Gandhi (Biography.com). In 1960
King was arrested for sit-in at restaurant in Greensboro, NC. And after 3 years later in 1963 he
wrote his famous letter from Birmingham jail.
King was motivated by Gandhi for is non-violence pretests (Brainpop.com). Luther
wanted to become a leader because he wanted to stop segregation (brainpop.com). King led nonviolence protests like boycotts, marches and sit-ins. He even made a famous speech, the I have
a dream speech saying I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where
they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by their content of their character (The
Reader Journey).King was working to achieve his Dream of land where all men of all races of
all nationalities and of all creeds can live together as brother (The readers Journey).
Martin Luther king Jr. was the most important leader of the civil right movement. King
changed the world by stopping segregation. Without him we wouldnt have this freedom of
mixing with color. Thanks to him our skin color, its not being judged King was person who
made everyone equal and stop segregation. Martin Made his dream come true he even died for it,
and now we have a holiday just to celebrate him.
