Part A Central Idea:

When the foundation is laid for the creation of a country, the issues that arise
create lasting causes and consequences that forever alter the individuals and
groups involved.
In your own words, and using information from our unit, explain what the
central idea means as it relates to our unit, Creating Canada 1850-1890 &
Canada: A Changing Society, 1890-1914. As well, state whether or not you
believe this statement to be true. The more historical proof you use in your
response, the stronger your answer.
Part B Unit Questions
Again, using your notes and your own ideas, answer two (2) of our unit
questions. I am looking for you to refer to specific lessons and use unit specific
vocabulary in your answers. You can answer the questions either as short
answer or in mind map form. If you have another idea for how you want to
share your learning, please ask. I look forward to reading all about what you
have learned in this unit.
Unit Questions:
1) Is historical change always positive? How do we determine the nature of
its impact?
2) In what ways are Canadian rights and freedoms a result of the struggles
of people in the past?
3) What role does social, economic and/or political inequality play in the
development of a nation?
