Abstract Noun

An Abstract Noun is the name of a quality, action or

condition, that is, something that we can only see or


touch.
It is the name of a thing that we can only think of or
feel.
For example, the thing that called music is something
that we cannot see or touch.
The name music therefore an Abstract Noun.
Other Abstract Nouns are:
love, joy, kindness, honesty, hope, darkness,
distance.

Abstract Noun are uncountable.


Some Abstract Nouns, however, are countable and

can be used in the Plural as:ideas, opinions, truths, freedoms, joy, hopes

from Common Nouns, or from Verbs.

Concrete Noun
A concrete noun is the name of something or

someone that we experience through our


senses, sight, hearing, smell, touch or taste.
Most nouns are concrete nouns. The opposite of a
concrete noun is an abstract noun.
For example:-

Cats, dogs, tables, chairs, buses, and teachers are


all concrete nouns.
