MATH 215 - Fall 2014

Homework 1: DUE - THURS, SEPT 4, 2014.

Do all the problems on the Diagnostic Test (The sheet handed out in class today) and turn
it in by the due date. I will pick a few problems at random to be graded. You may continue to
work on the assignment in your groups or on your own.

Please, WRITE NEATLY AND IN PENCIL. Show all work clearly and in order, and circle your
final answers. Justify your answers algebraically whenever possible.

Do not just write the answers on the diagnostic sheet and turn it in.
As in the homework guidelines, please write the problem number AND the entire problem itself.
Additionally, write the names of classmates you have worked with (at the end of your homework
set).
For example,

1. Solve for x: 2x + 1 = 3.
Solution.
2x + 1 = 3
2x = 2
x=1.
