You are a travel agent who has been hired by the city to create a hotel travel package for tourists
who visit our city. The purpose of the hotel package is to promote our newly created city. Tourists will
receive this package when they check into any hotel in the city Your goal is to attract tourists by
advertising all of the services and warning citizens about some of the new bylaws that are in your town.
Your advertising must also try to make tourists spend more time in our city either through repeat visits
or a longer stay. One way you may do this is to create coupons that visitors can use during their stay. As
a new city, there is potential to create and promote many different types of services. Be creative and
design a package to represent your ideas for the city. This is your opportunity to show what you know
through the projects that you create.
The travel package construction will be completed in levels. You must complete each assignment in the
level or receive a minimum of 25 points in each level to advance to the next stage. This means you will
need to work hard and put in your best effort if you want to complete the ultimate travel package.
You must get my initials beside every assignment before moving on to the next challenge.
Level 1: Worksheets (50 marks)
Your first challenge will be to complete all worksheets listed below. Completing these assignments will
give you the knowledge and understanding for the next levels. You must complete all assignments and
receive a minimum of 25 points to continue on to level 2.
1 point: Electoral Process Reflection

Level 2: Freebies! (50 marks)
Who doesnt love free gifts? Your level two challenge is to create free gifts for your tourists to
demonstrate how friendly and giving the citizens of our city are. Each option is worth 25 points.
Complete two of the options below to move on to level 3.
Option a) Create a colourful poster (8.5x 11 size) that promotes the members of the city
council. (mayor and two councillors). You must include at least two of their roles and
responsibilities as well as how they are maintaining the values of a democratic society.
Option b) Create a bookmark for the public library. Include a library motto or philosophy on
one side and a free library card on the other. List three of the services that the public library
offers citizens.
Option c) Create a bylaw sign for a local park or a local parking lot. Include the fine that would
be given for breaking the law and a picture of a bylaw enforcement officer.
Option d) Create a booklet of at least 3 coupons that provide discounts or free services
provided by the city. Make your coupons colourful and eye-catching so the visitors will
remember to use them during their stay.
Level 3: Advertisement (50 marks)
Your level 3 challenge is to construct a colourful, eye-catching advertisement. What does your city
have to offer? Each option is worth 50 points. Choose one option to complete the challenge. Inform
visitors of the events or activities they can participate in your city. You may work individually or with a
partner for this challenge, but approve your partners with Miss P before starting.
Option a): Travel BrochureCreate a brochure that will encourage people to move to the city.
Option b): Tri-fold Restaurant AdCreate a brochure that people can look at while they eat.
Tell them what they can do while visiting the city!
Option c): Tourism CommercialCreate a 3-5 minute tourism commercial boasting all of the
great things that your city has to offer. Include all required elements listed below.
You must promote four services including:
One medical or emergency service (ambulance, police, fire department)
One transportation service (busescity or school, trains, boats, etc)
One maintenance service (roads, garbage, water and sewage systems, etc)
One recreation service (sports arenas, parks, community centers, swimming pools, bowling
alleys, etc).

You must also include three bylaws that the city council has passed.
Include three bylaws that we researched in class that you think would be important for your city
You must give each bylaw a number and a name.
You must include the fine amount to inform tourists about how much they will have to pay for
breaking the bylaws.
You must include the three types of school boards in your city.
List the three types of school boards (give them creative names related to your city or its theme)
Promote school boards by including two reasons why school boards are important

**Keep in mind that everyones travel package will look different depending on
which activities you choose to complete and/or have time to complete. Be creative,
have fun and work hard to create your travel package.
