I believe in an interactive classroom where students are engaged and actively involved in their own education. Hands on activities that allow students to look at information from different perspectives is essential in a learning environment. Maintaining open communication with parents and guardians is critical for providing students with a well-rounded education both at home and school.

I am interested in applying for a teaching position at the elementary level within your county. As a 2015 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University I feel that my skills and experience through both practicum experiences and student teaching have prepared me to provide and foster a learning environment for the students in your county. I believe in an interactive classroom where students are engaged and actively involved in their own education. Hands on activities that allow students to look at information from different perspectives is essential in a learning environment in order to provide differentiation to learners. In addition, maintaining open communication with parents and guardians is critical for providing students with a well-rounded education both at home and school. These were some of the many practices I used during my student teaching experience at Echo Lake Elementary in Henrico County when working in fourth and first grade. Outside of my experience during student teaching in Henrico County, the faculty at VCU recently chose me to represent the School of Education as a Teacher of Promise. During this national convention held this March, I will receive one on one mentoring throughout my first year of teaching and gain valuable programming resources that I will carry with me throughout my career as an educator. I believe that my track record from prior practicum experiences have made me an excellent fit for this opportunity in your county. I have enclosed my resume for your consideration. Please feel free to contact me via phone or email at a time of your convenience to discuss my background as well as the requirements for the role. Sincerely, Kathryn Oller (757) 870-6897 ollerkl@vcu.edu
