LOOKING BACK
Pursuit: David, a man and his God 2 Samuel 5:1-5
Finally!
Finally! It usually comes with a measure of relief, a sense of gratitude, and an expanded
perspective on lifeand the future. For David, becoming King was the fulfillment of promises
made in the past, a difficult process, and a transition to the future. Such times scream for
refection and wise insight.
Thinking It Through (agree/disagree consider/contemplate)

I believe the promises of God enough to venture an eternity on them.

Working It Out
1. What is one of your memorable finallys in your life?

2. What role are the promises of God playing in your life right now? You may want to
ask another Christian this question too, and pray for each other.

3. How are you allowing your life journey to affect you-positively or negatively or both?
(emotionally, spiritually, physically, socially?)

LOOKING AHEAD
Pursuit: David, A Man and His God
Carried to the Table
2 Samuel 9

David is finally king! Its been quite a journey, but it doesnt end here. In one of Davids first
acts as king, he reaches out to a long, lost member of Jonathans household. This story
penetrates to the very depths of who we are and gives us a powerful glimpse into the grace of
God that truly changes everything.

1. What do you think David is feeling now that he is finally king?

2. What do you expect David to be thinking about at this point? What areas would (or
should) he be giving attention to, as king?

3. How would you define grace?

4. Are you aware, or mindful, of Gods grace as you live your life? Why or why not?
