    Reading
    This week is a special event called Literacy Week
    for all of PYP and is intended to allow students to
    further develop and celebrate a love of reading.
    While the first day happens to correspond with
    the Language portion of the MAP test for grade
    five, the rest of the week will include sufficient
    time for students to read favorite books of their
    choice, attend the Book Fair on Wednesday, and
    (if they wish) dress up on Thursday as their
    favorite book character.

    Math
    As mentioned previously, unit
    five is the longest, most detailed
    unit so far this year. The students practiced last week renaming fractions as decimals
    and reviewed rounding decimals. This week they will continue comparing fractions with decimals and their equivalents; differentiate between repeating
    and terminating decimals; and
    learn how to convert between
    fractions,decimals and percents.
