Human Trafficking

Prevention and Forms

By: Makeda Shiferaw
The US Department of Justice
confirmed that of all sex traffickers victims,
26 percent were white, and 40 percent were
black, while as for labor trafficking victims,
56 percent were Hispanic and 15 percent
were Asian. (Human Trafficking). Human
Trafficking is a worldwide problem that has
grown to become one of the most popular
businesses , many organizations are still
working on a way to find an end to human
trafficking, yet many laws have not been
established. Human Trafficking has
gradually grown and grown to become more
of a crime rather than a job. People have
taken advantage of many children, and even
adults, that numbers have grown at a high
rate to average one third of women walking
on the streets have been taken into the
human trafficking business in less that 48
hours.
Forms of Human Trafficking

Human Trafficking happens in a lot

of different ways, according to the US
Legislators. When the traffickers take their
victims, they take all of their information
with them, as in their passport. They make

sure they take them far from home as well.

Although Human Trafficking seems to
happen in more places rather than others,
this is still a worldwide problem.
Approximately 8 in 10 of the
suspected incidents of human trafficking
investigated by federally funded task forces
were classified as sex trafficking, and about
1 in 10 incidents were classified as labor
trafficking. (Human Trafficking). Over 50
percent of human trafficking victims have
been used in the prostitution industry, rather
than forced marriage or other labor
trafficking. Children who are in this
situation dont have an easy way out,
compared to those who are more matured.
According to Africa News Service,
Key elements include information exchange
relating to travel fraud, border management
technology and operations, capacity building
and training for police and migration
officials, and implementing joint projects to
address human trafficking and smuggling.
(Police Strengthen Fight Against Human
Trafficking). There are many different
forms of Human Trafficking, although the
most common form that most people would
define it as would be prostitution.

Human Trafficking Prevention

Why cant organizations find a stop

for human trafficking? Rights4Girls is a
human rights organization focused on
gender-based violence and its impact on
vulnerable young women and girls in the
U.S. based in Washington, D.C.,
Rights4Girls work to make the lives of U.S.
young women and girls a human priority.
(Members of Congress Join Rights4Girls
And The McCain Institute to combat Child
Sex Trafficking). Organizations like
Rights4Girls believe that people need to take
females lives as a larger priority for the
world. There are not many laws that help to
prevent human trafficking from happening,
although different organizations are trying to
find different ways to make human
trafficking come to an end.

Age, Money, & Affects

Sex trafficking is the fastest growing
business of organized crime with an
estimated revenue of $32 billion annually or
$87 million a day. (Sex Trafficking in the
U.S.). Over time human trafficking has just
been getting worse rather than when the
percent of human trafficking everywhere
should be decreasing. For example, a
trafficker could have some women working
a full week, over time they could make
around $620,000 a year. Human trafficking
is gradually becoming the most popular
business worldwide, when really; this should

be considered as a crime rather than a

business. As human trafficking grows,
more people start to realize how much it can
affect the rest of us, and considering this,
they would want to stop human trafficking.
Human Trafficking focuses on the
exploitation of vulnerable people for
monetary gain by the trafficker. Therefore, it
can be found in any labor and service sector.
Cases where trafficking have been found
included hair salons, cleaning services,
farms, independent contractors, hotels, and
commercial sex trade through the internet or
on the streets, and domestic servitude
involving housekeeper and nannies.
(Human Trafficking). Even though human
trafficking has been a problem, even when
others didnt notice it as much, because it
didnt affects the rest of us as much, now
that it has started to affect the rest of us
more, a larger proportion would try to help
and prevent human trafficking. Now that it
has grown to the point it is at, more people
are noticing this problem, and more
organizations are forming and attempting to
help.
In the human trafficking business,
they make around 10 million a year.
Unfortunately human trafficking cannot be
stopped once and for all very soon, yet
organizations can help eliminate the
problem faster. The government can enforce
new laws to prevent this worldwide
problem. Human trafficking businesses will
keep growing, as human trafficking
organizations try to find an end.
