Coordinator of Programming

Title: Coordinator of Programming


Location: San Miguel de Allende, Mexico
Duration: Full Time 40 hours per week, M-F and some weekends
Compensation: Monthly stipend of 6000 pesos, cell phone service, transportation between
program sites, and assistance finding affordable and/or free housing
Vacation: 2 weeks in December-January; 2 weeks in March-April (Semana Santa); Mexican
holidays according to school schedule
Start Date: August 31, 2015
End Date: May 15, 2016
Overview:
The Rural Education Institute of Mexico is a non-profit organization with the mission of
promoting education in rural communities in Mexico. Rural Ed works in rural communities to
provide a place between home and school where life-long learning is encouraged to improve
access to educational opportunities, and promote economic equality.
To carry out our programs we are now recruiting a Coordinator of Programming. reporting to
the Executive Director, the Intern Educational Advisor, and occasionally to the President of
the Board, the Coordinator of Programming will be responsible for the supervision of several
Programming Interns in the implementation of educational programming for primary and
middle school youth in the rural communities surrounding San Miguel de Allende.
Responsibilities:

Supervise and train the Programming Interns


Conduct weekly site visits to support and supervise the Programming Interns in
program delivery, teach and assist with the teaching
Implementation of the programming curriculum
Implementation of a monitoring and evaluation protocols for programming
Organize community meetings in every community
Administration of scholarship program with the assistance of the Scholarship
Department
Coordination of program expansion
Oversight of facilities maintenance and inventory of supplies
Purchase program supplies/materials and monitor intern expenditures
Work with the Programming Interns to organize community events
Volunteer training and coordination
Conduct weekly meetings with Programming Interns to reflect and discuss any
issues/concerns
Recruitment of new Programming Interns
Administration of reimbursements in coordination with accountant
Support fundraising campaigns and events of the organization

Qualifications Required:

University or College degree in International Development, Latin American Studies,


Education or related field
Functionally bilingual comfortable communicating in both Spanish and English
Cross-cultural experience
Highly organized and self-motivated
Capable of taking initiative and multi-tasking
1-3 years previous experience in developing and implementing programs for
elementary school children (aged 7-12) and/or middle school youth (aged 12-16)
Ability to work independently and in a group
Creative, flexible, and able to receive suggestions and feedback
Work well with limited supervision
Flexible schedule required
