Reading
Last week students completed exercises related to describing a
main character in the current story they are reading. They
practiced using specific sentence starters to help their written
descriptions flow and become more detailed. Students will continue
this week improving their ability to add pertinent details to their
writing when describing a story. Comparing and contrasting
characters as well as problem and solution will be a focus. Also, we
will continue with grammar development with a continuing lesson
on adverbs as well as contraction usage and plural and possessive
nouns.

Math
Unit five, which focused on fractions, decimals and percents, has
been completed and the students
have been given review pages to
help them prepare for the assessment on Tuesday. We will go over
the review pages on Sunday and
concentrate on issues needing the
most attention. Your child has been
instructed to take the review pages
home this weekend, should you
wish to view the types of problems
which will be on the assessment.
