Class Organisation
Resources/Equipment
(Position of teacher/students, setup/working area/grids for class,
transitions)

Equipment:
-

14 cones

7 footballs

Students are in lines all moving in the

same distance, groups are 3-6 metres
apart allowing a safe distance so collisions
do not occur

1:40
1:45

Bridging organization
Teacher brings the students back in but asks them to sit with their teams of 4 but organise themselves into pairs
Teacher explains the teaching points of a handball and demonstrates with a student with football experience
Teacher then gets the remainder of that students team up and demonstrates lane handballing
HPE2203 Jan 2015

Teacher asks one student from each team to collect 2 cones and a football per pair

1:45
1:52

Activity 1:
Partner handball (Lane handball

handball

KTPs:

Clenched fist
Catch the fist
Ball is not
thrown in the
air but rested
on the
platform hand

Students remain in their previous

teams so no one is left out

Students are spread out along a

line so the teacher can give
feedback and help to the students

Equipment:
-14 footballs
-28 cones

Extension:

giving them room to kick and lead and
avoid collisions with other students

Extension:

2:05
2:07
2:07
2:25

Students kick on their non preferred foot

Increase the distance of the kick
Players lead towards the kicker

Bridging organization

Modified game:

KTPs:

2 fields- 4 teams

Zone ball

Kicking:
Line up your
body with
the target
Have your
head over
the ball

Zones allow everyone having a go in

attacking and defending zones

2 teams, one half of each team will split into

attacking half and the other into the
defending half and players cannot leave
their halves until they have been instructed
they can
You can kick and handball the ball

Making every member of the team to have

at least one handball gets them involved in
the game

HPE2203 Jan 2015

Marks are rewarded

A score is made when a player takes a mark
from a handball or a kick inside the end
scoring zones

Progression:

Two handed tackle: if someone lands two

hands on someone with the ball the umpire
will rewards them will a free kick and holding
the ball

Everyone can go anywhere on the field

Instead of the scoring zone, goals can be

used

Hold the ball

over the
thigh of the
kicking leg
Guide the
ball down
with one
hand
Point your
toes at the
target see
the ball hit
the laces
Follow
through
straight
towards the
target

Handballing:

Side on
stance
Clenched fist
Catch the fist
Ball is not
thrown in the
air but rested
on the
platform hand

2 fields set up set up side by side means

that the teacher can watch both games and
ensure everything is running smoothly and
for the students there will be less players o
the ground leaving more space and a more
likely chance for students to get involved
and get more touches

Equipment:
-24 cones
-2 footballs
-14 bibs

Next lesson will be in the classroom focusing on the applications and roles we will be
using for the SEPEP tournament
Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will these be judged?)

Analyse students, provide feedback and see if improvements are made
