Gambar

Regional group : surround the neck

bellow the chin like collar
Deep cervical group : embedded in
the carotid sheath

Regional Lymph Nodes

Occipital nodes : at the apex of posterior triangle.
Receive lymph from back of the scalp
Mastoid nodes
Parotid nodes
Buccal nodes
Submandibular nodes
Submental nodes
Anterior cervical nodes
Superficial cervical nodes
Retropharyngeal nodes
Laryngeal nodes
Tracheal (paratracheal) nodes

Nodes

Location

Receive lymph from

Occipital nodes

At apex of posterior
triangle

back of the scalp

Mastoid nodes
(retroauricular)

Lie over Proc. mastoid

Scalp above the ear, auricle,

meatus acc externus

Parotid nodes

On or within Parotid
salivary gland

Scalp above the parotid

gland, eyelids, auricle,
meatus acc externus

Buccal nodes

1 or 2 in number. Lie on
Mus. Buccinator

Face, anterior part of scalp

to submandibular nodes

Submandibular
nodes

Superficial to
submandibular salivary
gland, just below the
body of mandible

Front of the scalp, nose,

cheek, upper and lower lip
(expt the central part of
lower lip), frontal, maxillary,
ethmoid sinuses, upper and
lower teeth (expt the lower
incisors), anterior 2/3 tounge
(expt the tip), floor of mouth,
vestibule and the gums

Submental nodes Lie in submental triangle tip of tounge, floor of anterior

just below the chin
part of mouth, incisor teeth,

Nodes

Location

Anterior cervical
nodes

Lie along the course of

anterior jugular veins

Skin of front of the neck

Superficial
cervical nodes

Lie along the external

jugular vein

Skin over the angle of the jaw

and the lower part of the
parotid gland and from the
lobe of the ear

Retropharyngeal
nodes

Between pharynx and

the vertebral column

Nasopharynx, auditory tube,

vertebral column

Laryngeal nodes

In front of larynx

Larynx

Tracheal
(paratracheal)
nodes

Lie alongside trachea

Trachea and thyroid gland

Deep Cervical Lymph Nodes

Are arranged in a vertical chain along the
course of the internal jugular vein within the
carotid sheath
Receive lymph from all the regional nodes
Form the Jugular Trunk drains into the
thoracic duct or the right lymphatic duct
a. Jugulodigastric node : located behind the angle
of the jaw and drains the tonsil
b. Jugulo-omohyoid node : located approximately
halfway down the neck. Drainage of the tounge
