I am writing this letter in support of Danielle Hughes. I have witnessed Danielle as a
consummate musician, developing educator, and outstanding member of the community. Her
approach is rooted in a solid foundation, with an eye towards the potential that all students bring
towards to the classroom.
I have had the opportunity to work with Danielle in a variety of roles over the past year. As a
student, she has stood out amongst her peers. Her diligent work ethic and approach to learning
have provided a substantial foundation that she continues to rely on as she transitions into the
professional world. She continues to seek out opportunities to grow and improve her craft as an
educator. Additionally, she regularly participates in opportunities to maintain and develop her
own personal high level of musicianship.
In the classroom, Danielle consistently demonstrates awareness and concern for student
understanding. Through thoughtful lesson design and sequential instruction, based on curricular
goals and standards, Danielle prepares her students for the musical experience that is appropriate
for their level of knowledge, while simultaneously providing resources that push her students
towards new knowns. In addition, Danielle has shown an appreciation for the shared
responsibility educators have when working with the whole student. Realizing that music is a
part of a larger school community, Danielle seeks opportunities to collaborate and support other
subject areas. This trait, in such a young professional, is a welcomed relief in todays educational
community, as well as a reflection of her extensive teaching experiences throughout her degree
pursuits.
Danielle has consistently modeled appropriate character development, both in and out of the
classroom. Respecting the opportunity as an educator to demonstrate social responsibility,
Danielle is an active member in the community, offering her talents and time in both academic
and community settings.
Ms. Hughes will quickly become a valued member of any organization she is invited to. I have
not only been impressed with her development in the areas listed above, but I look forward to
collaborating with her as a colleague in the near future. Because of this, I wholeheartedly
