Grading Period 1
I saw a Mongol approaching. I didnt know what to do. They were so mean,
our city tried to avoid them most as possible. He was riding a horse. Why
was it wearing clothes? They are strange people. I never understood them.
As he approached, I heard the screams from our towns people. They just
left. They screamed and then ran into their houses. I dont know why. He was
just riding. Sure, he looked mean and we had all heard the stories, but why
would he be here? Then, I heard the screaming. Not the people of this place.
The scream of war. What had my parents not been telling me? I walked
closer and saw them running at me. I realized my parents were calling my
name from behind. I was curious and wanted to talk to them. They kept
running and wouldnt stop. They kept on until I woke up next to my favorite
toy and a bouquet of flowers.
I heard mommy crying. Why was she so sad? I saw myself lying next to
daddy. What was happening? Why was I sleeping but I could see myself and
talk? She slowly walked away and I ran after her but she never talked to me.
Was she sad because I didnt listen?
