Central College Participates in Early Support Program

Central College recognized for expertise in electronic learning

BOSTON, March 10 Today, Central College is one of five institutions to

participate in the Early Support program, a pilot study to develop high school
juniors and seniors education so they can start college at the same time as their
peers.

The Massachusetts Education Research Foundation selected Central College

because of its expert capabilities in electronic learning programs and knowledge
in multiple subject areas the Early Support program will focus on.

Our Early Support professors are committed to providing exclusive online and
interactive support for students, Antoine St. Pierre, director of academic
computing, said. We hope students take the most out of the computer skill
development and basic English courses we developed.

Early Support expects to increase participants test scores and high school
graduation rates. Central College agreed to accept for admission, and provide
financial aid to all applicants who perform satisfactory in the Early Support
program.

In the next five years, Central College will become more competitive with IvyLeague institutions because of raised admission standards, President Leon
DeWitt said. We want to provide students that top-quality education to all Early
Support students.

The five participating institutions, including Central College, Boston College,

Simmons College, Regis College and Emerson College, will meet for the first
time at the Capitol on March 15 to discuss the basic curriculum and coordinate
high school and college partnerships.

Central College is prepared for the program launch this coming fall. For more
