This website is the Center for International Education Benchmarking through NCEE. The
website is based on the differences between the highest education systems in the world.
There is statistics, data from test results, information of America, and characteristics of a
top performing countries. Also, the website provides many examples of the differences
and quality of both America and Australias education system. One article I found really

helpful was the Australia Overview. It laid out all of the basics of their system, proved
Australias Education System was excelling compared to the United States. Also, a
general outline was provided of their education history and a video from their Deputy
Minister from the Department of Education. I found this website to be beneficial in my
research of the two systems. The one draw back is that it isnt all about Australia and
America because either is a top performing country. I plan to use this website a lot in
completing my project as it provides adequate information and lots of visuals aids to
guide my website.
Rubin, C. The Global Search for Education: How to Improve -- From Australia. Huffington
Post, 8 February 2015. Web. 11 March 2015.
This article from the Huffington Post shows an interview based on a study done in
Australia to show the effectiveness of their education system. The author discuses
the importance of having effective teachers, this produces a school that will show
excellent learning results. She also discusses the need for a school wide
community that comes together for the collective benefit of the students. The

Comment [2]: I think you should give Malcolm
an example of how it gave you information, because
he will definitely ask you when he grades the paper.

Comment [3]: Neither, because you are
comparing two topics.

Comment [4]: You did a very good job of
explaining the website, and how it helped give you
information. But give a background on how it is a
credible source and also what audience the website
appeals to.

National School Improvement Tool is an up and coming idea to produce adequate

performance from students. The author uses data to prove that the NSIT is
working in Australia, with results happening in under a year. Therefore, Rubin
personally stands on the importance of impressive schooling throughout Australia.
This popular news source allowed a writer to interview Geoff Masters, a professor
and active member in the Australian education. This article provided me with
information on their need for effective schools and ways that they are trying to
succeed this compared to the United States. I found this source very helpful in
getting a closer look into their education. I hope to use this article in my project if
I am able to compare or contrast the views with America.

Comment [5]: This sentence is a little confusing
to read. I think its only because of the trying to
succeed this compared to the United States. Could
just be a typing error.

Sullo, Bob. "Education in Australia and America: More Alike Than Different."
Funderstanding Education Curriculum and Learning Resources. Funderstanding,
11 Feb. 2011. Web. 11 Mar. 2015.
This website provides a summary of certain characteristics of the Australian
education system from the eyes of a teacher from Australia. This author provided
an alternative view from the normal articles I have been reading. This article
shows that the two systems are really similar and we keep looking for differences
in the system when there are so many commonalities. I found this beneficial in
providing me with an alternative view. It showed me that I also want to show a
heavy importance on their similarities. However, I want to find the similarities at
a different website because the website funderstanding.com, seems to be
unreliable. I hope to do more research from the teacher interviewed, Bette Blance.

Comment [6]: This is such a good source to use
for your paper. I feel like this annotation could use a
little bit more background, just to provide Malcolm
with more answers to questions he might ask you
regarding the article.

Williamson, J., and B.J. Fraser. "Elementary Education In Australia." Elementary School
Journal 92.1 (1991): 5. Education Research Complete. Web. 8 Mar. 2015.
This scholarly journal outlines the elementary system in Australia. It begins with
a layout of the country and using similarities to tie it with the education system in
America. Then the article continues with the basics that the elementary child
learns in Australia, the basics of their system and the complexities that have
developed. It also used data to talk about their values from the eyes of a teacher,
and general statistics of their education system. I found this journal to be very
beneficial in laying out a general outline and providing excellent detail on the
specifics. It allowed me to better visual it and compares it to my own elementary
education. However, this article was written in 1991 so the information is out of
date to use for my research project. I am hoping to just use little facts and using it
as a past history to enrich my website.
Elizabeth,
I love how all of your annotations are short simple and straight to the point. Malcolm is
kind of nit picky and asks a lot of questions. So some of your summaries of the
articles could use a little more detail, just to provide answers to Malcolm if he
questioned everything. Also, from previous experience I found that the teacher
likes to hear also about the source and credibility. If you added a sentence to each
summary for detail and information about the sources this annotation would be
perfect. I cant wait to see how these sources influence your topic!

on the article, if I was a reader not knowing
anything about your topic I might have questions
about the summary.
