Public Statement George K. Noe, City Manager April9, 2015 {As you may have read inthe paper, there isa split within City Council about my performance as the City Manager. You haven't seen much public response from me on the issue as | thought it ‘most appropriate to let the discussion proceed, ast should, asa personnel item in executive session. Given the repeated public comments on this issue, however, | thinkitIsnecessary that | make a public statement in an effort to clarify the situation and make an effort to mave this discussion forward toa satisfactory resolution. | cealy love my work at the City of Aurora. Public service is privilege and the work we do as city, employees truly matters. Each day have the opportunity to make my community a better place This isa great organization with caring employees and thoughtful leaders. | have been in city ‘management for mere than 35 years in 7 cites around the country and find the wort of delivering ‘quality services to residents very rewarding. | ike my work and think 'm good att More importantly, we have a great team and not only Is city business being done every dav, we are exceling att. That is validated by not only the long list of accomplishments on Counc’ priorities, but the national independent rankings that Aurora continues to accumulate. {truly see my role here iso take action based on the direction of the majority of City Council and to. ‘manage the day-to-day operations ofthe city in the most professional manner possole. | should ‘also be clear that | want to have a positive relationship with all the members of city Council. ‘The newspaper reports include accusations that | have mistreated specific councl members — velling at and mistreating them ~ and that have treated the fernale members differently from the male members of Council. | treat and value all people equally and, as | have said repeatedly Inthe past, these allegations are not accurate. ‘Let me say that created the impression that | slighted any member of Council, feet badly ‘and want to assure that this was not my intent, | have expressed that sentimentto council ‘members individually in privat inthe past and want to address any misconceptions that may have been created. | recognize that resolving interpersonal confit takes work and commitment by all hose involved ~ and that commitment is one Iam willing to make. | would welcome the chance to work with each Council Member individually to address any concerns in a way that best meets their needs, ‘Auroras a great city wth 2 great future. Our Mayor and Council spend countless hours to lead and serve our city. I'm committed to supporting the important work they do to 2enefit the residents we serve.
