I this Faqeer
(Faiez Ahmad uwaiesee Ghufira Lahu) came to know Hazrat Allaamah
Maulana Haafiz Muhammad Shafee Saahib Okarvi (Allaah have mercy
on him) when he was being presented the Turban of honor (Dastaarbandee) at the annual convocation of Madrassah Anwaar-ul-Uloom,
Multan Shareef. In that same year two students of mine Maulana Haafiz
Muhammad Abdul Majeed uwaiesee currently Shaiekh-ul Hadees in
Madrassah Anwaar-ul Mustafaa, Sukkur (Sind) and Maulana Ghulaam

Fareed uwaiesee (Allaah have mercy on him), Tabba Chauhaan, District

Rahim yar khan had also received the turban of honor. In the last
session of the Annual Function of Madrassah Daarul-ul Uloom Multan
a most beautiful, handsome and inspiring young man appeared
prominent. It seemed this dignified personality was also invited on that
day's gathering amongst notable orators for giving a lecture. But later it
was acknowledged that this young man with illuminated face was one
amongst the accomplished scholars.
By appearance he was most beautiful and dignified and was seated in
the row of the scholars. Therefore, on questioning about him I was only
told this young man was not amongst the graduated scholars, rather he
was seated with the respected guests' scholars. I did not consider these
introductory sentences of the person informing me adequate and
decided that I would find out more at the end to the gathering.
Meanwhile during this time (Ghazaali-e-Zamaan) The Ghazaali of the
Era, Hazrat Allaamah Ahmad Saiyyid Sa'eed Shaah Kaazimee (Allaah
have mercy on him) announced himself just now, "I have received some
questions regarding the objections of the opponents (of our beliefs)
concerning Waseelah (mediation). Their answers will be given by the
young scholar Maulana Haafiz Muhammad Shafee

Saahib Okarvi." The crowd welcomed him with zealous slogans. As

Maulana Okarvi Saahib explained adequate answers to all these
questions with the verses of the Qur'aan and the sacred Ahaadees, a
wave of happiness and ecstasy sifted all over the crowd and continuous
slogans were chanted throughout the speech of Maulana Okarvi
Saahib. Moreover, Maulana Okarvi Saahib's precise speech containing
the answers overpowered all the speeches of the orators present in this
session.
This was the same young man with illuminated face and grace about
whom I had the desire to inquire further. Maybe other guest scholars
might also have the desire to know more about this young man. It
should be called the miracle of Allaamah Kaazimee this way we all came
to know about his this qualified student. Initially we were already
impressed by the beauty and dignity of Maulana Okarvi Saahib but now
his style and attractive voice had also made room in the heart. Maybe
now more manifestations were to be unfolded. At the end of this
session the chairman of the congregation Shaiekh-ul Islaam Hazrat
Khawaajah Muhammad Qamar-ud-deen Siyaalvee's (Allaah have mercy
on him) scholarly intellectual speech was presented. He said one
sentence in his speech that, "Haazir wa Naazir Honaa Tou Sifat Hee
Rasoolul Laah (Sallal Laahu 'Alaiehi Wa Sallam) Kee Hai, Allaah Ta'aa

laa Kay Liyay Yeh Sifat Bayaan Karnaa Tou Kufr Tak Ponhchaa Daytaa
Hai." "To be Haazir and Naazir is the attribute of the Holy Prophet
(Sallal Laahu 'Alaiehi Wa Sallam), to express this attribute for Almighty
Allaah outreaches to infidelity."
Not everyone in the crowd were learned people and they could not
understand such a condensed lecture without explanation by
themselves. Besides, a school of criticism could be opened by the
opponents due to such a condensed lecture and the scenario was that
another speech was not to be made after this executive speech. Much
of the night had already passed and the audience were also feeling tired.
But the congregation was of Anwaar-ul-Uloom and the host was
Huzoor Ghazaali-e-Zamaan (Ghazaali of the Era Allaamah Kaazimee)
(Allaah have mercy on him). He also felt the importance of this matter
and stood up himself and in very good style praised the speech of
Hazrat Khawaajah Qamar-ud-deen Saahib and said, "The sentence
which is stated by Hazrat Khawaajah Saahib regarding (Haazir and
Naazir) of Almighty Allaah a brief explanation of that summary will be
presented in
front of you by Maulana Haafiz Muhammad Shafee Saahib Okarvi."
This was a clear proof of the confidence of Ghazaali-e-Zamaan on
Maulana Okarvi. Perhaps the crowd was yet again desperate to hear

Maulana Okarvi Saahib as the echoing of slogans were such that they
would not stop. Hazrat Maulana Haafiz Muhammad Shafee Saahib
Okarvi (Allaah have mercy on him) began the answer. Even though
much portion of night had passed, it felt as if life had waved throughout
the crowd. The whole crowd had become energetic and the emotion of
everyone could be felt that Maulana Okarvi Saahib may keep explaining
till morning. But Maulana Okarvi Saahib explained concisely and
comprehensively whose summary was this, "Haazir wa Naazir Kay Lafz
Lughvee Lihaaz Say Makaan o Jihat Kay Mutaaqaazi Hayn Aur Allaah
Taa'aa laa Makaan Aur Jihat Say Munazzah Aur Muqaddas Hai, Hazrat
Khawaajah Saahib Kay Farmaanay Ka Maqsad Yahee Hai Kay Makaan
wa Jihat Kee Sifaat Tou Huzoor-e-Akram (Sallal Laahu 'Alaiehi Wa
Sallam) Kay Liyay Ho Sakti Hayn Aur Hayn Magar Allaah Ta 'aa laa Kay
Liyay Makaan wa Jihat Ka Tasawwur, Kufr Tak Naubat Ponhchaataa
Hai."
"According to the dictionary the meaning of Haazir and Naazir is
defined from station and form and Almighty Allaah is sacred and free
from station and form. The only reason of this saying of Hazrat
Khawaajah Saahib is the attribute of station and form can be for the
Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu 'Alaiehi Wa Sallam) and they are, but to
consider the thought of station and form for Almighty Allaah can lead

to the level of infidelity." (*)Maulana Okarvi Saahib also explained the

crowd intellectually. (**)
In the excellence of graduation and distribution of certifications this
year the most prominent had to be Hazrat Haafiz Muhammad Shafee
Okarvi (Allaah have mercy on him) and so he remained prominent.
Later I found out Maulana Okarvi Saahib was actually the student of
Hazrat Shaiekh-ul Qur'aan Maulana Ghulaam 'Alee Saahib Okarvi and
had completed his complete syllabus till Ahaadees Shareef from him
and

Prophet (Sallal Laahu 'Alaiehi Wa Sallam) is spiritually Present (Haazir)
and Over looking (Naazir) and not physically).

mercy on him) or my book Tansheetul Khawaatir known as
'' Dilon ka Chayn "

then Maulana Okarvi Saahib had met Huzoor Ghazaali-e-Dauraan. The

scene that was observed after the presentation of the turban of honor
(Dastaar bandee) was worth viewing. Hazrat Maulana Haafiz
Muhammad Shafee Saahib Okarvi (Allaah be pleased with him) went
home in a large crowd of people. At that time his sacred diary was in
the hands of the people even though Hazrat Maulana Okarvi Saahib
(Allaah be pleased with him) kept excusing and pardoning himself from
giving a date to attend further gatherings of the people and the
scholars, not even a date of that year remained empty and a great
number of people kept the desire in their heart by waiting for the dairy
of the next year. How could I give the details of state of Maulana
Okarvi's gatherings?
Whereas the associates knew it very well that the opponents also
accepted the charms of the captivating oratory of Hazrat Maulana
Haafiz Muhammad Shafee Saahib Okarvi (Allaah have mercy on him)'s
speeches. I will only explain details of one gathering. Adjacent to the
native village Haamidabad, District Rahim Yar khan of mine, a devotee
of Holy Prophet (Sallal Laahu 'Alaiehi Wa Sallam) and beloved of the
scholars Hazrat Haaji Yaar Muhammad Saahib of Wagwan District
Rahim Yar khan existed.

He had to arrange many gatherings during the year and later for the
annual function he would make the selection of the top most
outstanding scholar and orator. Personalities like (Bulbul-e-Baagh-eBaabaa Fareed), Nightingale of the Garden of Baabaa Fareed, Hazrat
Maulana Muhammad Yaar Saahib of Gharee Ikhtiyaar Khaan (Allaah be
pleased with him) would be the adornment of his gatherings.
This year as soon as he heard the intellectually proficient speeches of
Hazrat Maulana Okarvi Saahib (Allaah be pleased with him) in the
congregation of Anwaar-ul-Uloom Shareef he admired him whole
heartedly. Therefore without any delay that year for his annual
congregation he made the selection of Hazrat Maulana Okarvi Saahib
and made such great arrangement that when I entered with his
students in the gathering there was not even a spot for a speck and tents
were placed till faraway. Besides, what calculation could be done of
this roaring ocean of people? Then if I may explain the scene of lecture,
than how should I do it? Indeed every speech and every congregation
of Maulana Okarvi Saahib was considered an example. In a very short
while, Hazrat Maulana Okarvi Saahib (Allaah be pleased with him) was
considered the most popular and famous orator of Punjab. At that
moment there was not a single notable main congregation in which
Hazrat Haafiz Muhammad Shafee Saahib Okarvi (Allaah be pleased

with him) was not present because only his name was the guarantee of
the success of the congregation. Shortly, since then we heard he has
resided in Karachi (Baabul Madinah, as during those days everyone
who went to Madinah had to go from here). Then the people of Karachi
know very well what happened ever since Hazrat Maulana Okarvi
Saahib came to Karachi. We have heard several times from the
opponents that, "A young Punjabi man has destroyed our hard work
and has ruined our sleep." All the intellectual claims and series of
irreligiousness of the opponents were destroyed by Hazrat Khateeb-eA'zam Maulana Muhammad Shafee Saahib Okarvi (Allaah be pleased
with him). And the talks of truth and honesty was raised to such extent
that there was illumination everywhere. The ill-fated opponents could
not think of anything so they became the enemy of his life. And
eventually also organized murderous attacks and those ill-fated tyrants
inflicted severe wounds. It can be said, they did not leave any
deficiency from their side in their attempts of assassination. But as
quoted, "The one who is guarded by Allaah who can harm him."
Almighty Allaah protected his life and his popularity increased several
times more than in the past and not only in Pakistan but also in foreign
countries he inquired authority.

By the Grace of Almighty Allaah he had the skillfulness to make an

intellectual and researched speech on every topic. He would make a
heart-warming and easily understandable speech with proofs from the
Qur'aan and the sacred Ahaadees and would clarify the true path.
During the speech when he would read the verses with great exquisite
melody the audience would encompass in such feeling of ecstasy as if
they had forgotten the world and whatever is in it. Especially in
Karachi he revived Maslak-e-Haqq, the true path of Ahle Sunnat Wa
Jamaa'at. And it was his specialty in every speech to remove false
thinking by giving intellectual and derived (from the books of the
opponents) answers to the objections of the opponents. One year I had
taught the course of Tafseer-e-Qur'aan (Explanation of Qur'aan), in
Khaierpur
Naathan Shah, District Dadu (Sind). Nearly two hundred proficient
scholars and graduates from Sind gathered. During those days Hazrat
Maulana Haafiz Muhammad Shafee Saahib Okarvi (Allaah be pleased
with him) was invited there for a congregation. When Hazrat heard
that I was teaching a course for the explanation of Qur'aan so instead of
resting in the lodging, for complimenting this Faqeer he came in the
sitting area to meet and blessed with great honor and reverence. Also,
ever since we were mutually introduced he would always remember

only with love and kindness. That night as the proceeding of the
congregation started, those people had made me the chairman of the
gathering as well, but Hazrat Maulana Okarvi (Allaah have mercy on
him) likewise remembered me with much esteem and announced that
this speech of mine would be under the chairmanship of uwaiesee
Saahib. He was told in reference to the topic of lecture about clarifying
the Rawaafiz. So Al Hamdu Lil laah for more than two hours he piled
up large number of evidences to expose all the false beliefs of the
Rawaafiz (Shiites) from the Qur'aan and Ahaadees and also with the
books of the Rawaafiz (Shiites). This was his quality that he would ask
for the topic from the invitee at the vicinity of the gathering. With the
Grace of Almighty he had absolute proficiency on every topic, when he
would explain he would fulfill the truthfulness of that topic.
Anyway it is a famous idiom of Persian,
"Mushk Aanast Keh Khud Bubuuyad Nah Keh Attaar Buguuyad"
(A fragrance is that which would describe itself the seller of perfume
may perhaps not have to say this is fragrance)
His personality had laudable qualities and complete excellences.
Anything Almighty Allaah had bestowed him for religious services it
was not hidden from anyone? Not only in Pakistan but also in foreign
countries his intellectual and spiritual beneficence is flowing and

prevailing. Now during this year, it is a matter of 1420 Hijri, after

performing Umrah I went to a Qaadiree friend in Jeddah. There I saw a
whole closet full of cassettes. On inquiring I was told all these cassettes
are of the speeches of Hazrat Maulana Haafiz Muhammad Shafee
Okarvi (Allaah be pleased with him). Thousands of cassettes are
preserved on religious knowledge on different topics and that Qaadiree
friend while sitting there makes copies of them and
give them as a gift to people who come from all over the world. The
same way, I do not know how many other friends are spreading the
beneficence of Hazrat in how many places by doing this service. And I
was told by this friend that a satisfactory answer to every objection of
the opponents is found by them in these speeches. Similarly his best
literatures (books) are also famous and appreciated amongst the
scholars and the common people. Also the progeny of the scholars
(Ulamaa) and the Spiritual Leaders (Mashaa'ikh) very rarely follow this
path but the gratified thing is that it is the blessed auspiciousness of
Hazrat Maulana Haafiz Muhammad Shafee Saahib Okarvi (Allaah be
pleased with him) that he has been blessed with such a fortunate son
who has enlightened his personality even more and is enlightening. By
this I mean the accomplished young man Allaamah Alhaaj Muhammad
Kaukab Noorani Okarvi (May Allaah increase his grace and excellence)

He has fulfilled the honored of being placed on the seat of his respected
father (Allaah be pleased with him). Rather I learnt while visiting
Karachi (Baabul Madinah) this fell ow by his intellectual talents and
academic qualities has not only made the people of Karachi his
admirers but similarly like his respected father in foreign countries too
his popularity is being increased and he is benefitting and blessing the
people of Islaam with his excellence of knowledge and talents. I pray to
Almighty Allaah that he may bestow Hazrat Maulana Muhammad
Shafee Okarvi (Allaah be pleased with him) great rank in Jannat-ul
Firdaus and would bestow his most esteemed son "Every moment with
more progression," Aameen. By the grace of Holy Prophet

REWARD
Mujad-did-e-Maslak-e-Ahle Sunnat 'Aashiq-e Rasool, Khateeb-eA'zam Pakistan Hazrat Allaamah Maulana Muhammad Shafie Okarvi
,(Rahmatul-Laahi 'Alaieh) had announced with special permission that
if a person has any true need then he should read two rak'aat namaaz "
Nafl and pray to Allaah Ta'aalaa that by the mean of the 313 As-haab-eBadr (Radiyal-Laahu 'Anhum ajma'een) fullfil my true need. If my desire
is achieved then from the As-haab-e-Badr I will give 313 rupees for the
construction of Jaame Masjid Gulzar-e-Habeeb, Gulistan-e-Okarvi
".(Soldier Bazaar) Karachi. In shaa Allaah his desire will be fullfilled
Al Hamdu Lil Laah ! By the revelation of Hazrat Khateeb - e - A'zam
(Rahmatul-Laahi 'Alaieh) till now millions of people has
been gratified and graced.
Peoples true need is fulfilled, Masjid is also being gradually built. And
they rewards of Sadaqah-e-Jaariyah with the grace of Allaah Ta'aalaa is
been recieved. Masjid Gulzaar-e-Habeeb as a big Masjid of Karachi,it is
one of its own kind.

Try to co-operate in its building. May Allaah Ta'aalaa give you excellent
rewards.

In 1973, Khateeb-e-A'zam Pakistan, Hazrat Maulana Muhammad
Shafee Okarvi (Allaah have mercy on him) Established the Gulzaar-eHabib Trust and stated the construction of Jaame Masjid Gulzaar-eHabib (Sallal Laahu 'Alaiehi Wa Sallam) in Doli-Khaata Gulistan-eOkarvi (Soldier Bazaar) Karachi, Pakistan on land dedicated for this
purpose since 1903 .
In 1980, under the management Gulzaar-e-Habib
(Sallal Laahu 'Alaiehi Wa Sallam)
