DEFENDANT [NAME]S MOTION FOR APPOINTMENT OF COURT REPORTER TO

RECORD PRELIMINARY HEARING
COMES NOW defendant [name], by and through counsel, and under Missouri Supreme Court
Rule 22.10, moves for an Order for the court to appoint a court reporter to record the preliminary
hearing. Defendant states:
1)

Defendant is charged with the offense of [insert homicide charge].

Defendant is scheduled for [or anticipates] a preliminary hearing on [date].

3)

Missouri Supreme Court Rule 22.10 states that [i]n all cases of homicide, a
verbatim record of the testimony at the preliminary hearing shall be made. It shall be
transcribed upon the written request of the state or defendant.

Defendant has made arrangements to have [name of court reporter] transcribe the preliminary
hearing. Alternatively, the defendant requests that the Court appoint a court reporter.

WHEREFORE, defendant prays for an Order allowing [name of court reporter] to record the
