Research Question: How does music affect students performance in other academic subjects?
Working Thesis: Music helps students to perform greater in other academic subjects.
Refined Thesis Statement: Music adds diversity to a students education and having a diverse
education leads to a superfluous performance in a students studies leading to a better
understanding of other subjects.

This article speaks about how music education can improve students for the better in
their school work. This article elucidates the fact that students who participate in music classes
have been proven to further expand and enforce concepts in science and math. It also points out
the fact that it is important for students to have a well-rounded education because a diverse
education tends to lead to higher performance in schools, higher graduation rates, and higher
percentage of students attending college. This article is helpful to this paper because it helps to
explain that music will lead to higher performance rates in other areas in the school.

and create a de-stressing environment. It also puts students in a better mood and help them to
enjoy school helping them to learn more in other classes. This article benefits this paper because
it helps to explain that participating in a musical ensemble can help students find a better
enjoyment and school and gain a better attitude toward learning.

Vietnam War era to help explain the feeling of the 1960s anti-war movement. This article will
benefit this essay because it helps to explain that music can improve standardized test scores,
long term retention, and overall attitude towards learning.
