Abstract:

Today, most of the students having a hard time understanding English language
and lot of scholars argued if translation of English language to the mother tongue of the
students if effective. From the existing recent studies some says it is effective and some
says it will just decrease the ability of the students to be competitive in the real world.
The aim of this research to summarize and assess the arguments that encourage the
use of translation of English short story to the mother tongue of the students.

Introduction
This paper focused on the types of translation, translation process of a short
story and how the students attitude affect by translating an English language in to their
mother tongue. Munday (2008) defines translation as the result of a text processing
activity, by means of which a source language text is transported into a target language
text. Between the resultant text in FL (the target language text) and the source text in EL
(the source language text), there is a relationship which can be described as a
translational or equivalence relation.
