Reading
Last week, the students studied mood in their stories and
wrote about how mood can change within their story, giving
specific examples. This week students will practice
determining the meaning of words through context clues,
writing their thought process on what a word might mean
and why. Students will also be responsible for presenting a
brief, oral summary of their book in front of their classmates.
In grammar we will look at the use of idioms in writing and
determine what certain idioms mean.

Math
This week we will conclude unit
six, in which the students have
collected and used data to create
graphs and also reviewed addition
and subtraction of fractions. Well
conclude the unit by finding common denominators for fractions;
reinforcing the use of common
denominators to compare, add and
subtract fractions. Well also investigate the amount of minutes in
fractions of hours. On Wednesday
we will conduct a review of the
unit, which will be followed by the
unit assessment on Thursday.
