Research Experience
Undergraduate Research Assistant (2013 present), UI Department of
Biological Sciences.
Principal investigator: Dr. Peter G. Fuerst.
Currently working in a neurobiology / developmental biology laboratory. We
study retinal development in mice using transgenes, immunohistochemistry,
and fluorescent microscopy. My project in particular focuses on a population
of TH-positive amacrine cells. The labs work has biomedical relevance as
the gene of interest is located in the Down syndrome critical region.
Research Assistant (2013), UI Department of Psychology and Communication
Studies.
Research supervisor: Dr. Brian C. Hopper.
I assisted with psychological research on the therapists role in facilitating
FtM transgender identity development. This included a literature review on
transgender masculinity and preparation for Dr. Hoppers oral presentation
on the subject at a conference.
Research Assistant (2012), Center for Change, Orem, UT.
Research supervisor: Dr. P. Scott Richards.
At the Center for Change, I assisted with psychological research regarding
patients being treated for eating disorder. My work broadly entailed data
preparation and analysis in order to better understand the psychological
patterns of current and former patients.
