Statistical inference makes propositions about a population, using data drawn from the
population via some form of sampling. Given a hypothesis about a population, for which we
wish to draw inferences, statistical inference consists of (firstly) selecting a statistical model
of the process that generates the data and (secondly) deducing propositions from the
model.
Define an "Experiment"
Reply:
A process to test collect and test data of a unknown phenomenon with the hope to gain
clarity or understanding about the validity of the assumption or hypothesis.

The term population is used to represent all possible measurments oroutcomes that are of
interest to us in a particular study.
The Term sample refers to a portion of the population that is representative of the
population from which it was selected.
What are Parameter, and what are Statistics? Explain the differences.
Reply:
Both are similar but basically a few differences between them are: Statistics describe a
sample and parameter describes the entire population.
Well how do you know which one you have?
Well if you have a percent of something then you generally have a statistic, example: 60% of
U.S households have wireless internet, its a statistic because your ot going to collect data
from every single house in America.
If 30% of 120 students dont have cell phones, now this is a parmeter because all 120
students were survey.

"A probability distribution of a statistic obtained through a large number of samples drawn
from a specific population. The sampling distribution of a given population is the
distribution of frequencies of a range of different outcomes that could possibly occur for a
statistic of a population."
Define:
Estimate
Estimator
Estimation
Reply:
Estimate estimate is some value calculated from a sample
Estimator- is calculated from sample data and used to indicate parameter value
Estimation-based on collected sample data and expressed a value
Experimental (or Sampling) Unit a person animal or object which we collect data.
Example : an Orange tree where number of Oranges is measured
Weight of oranges is measured
Rainfall level per season
Define and explain Experimental (or Sampling) Unit (give example).

Cool example William Mays, I am knowledgeable about NERC and see what your saying. I
have been involved in engineering requested solutions to issues they want addressed. doing
that type of work can be somewhat challenging coming up with solutions that are within
required specs.
