Name- Chelsee Larsen
Topic- Bullying
Topic Sentence/Purpose StatementDate of Presentation- 4/27/15
Time- 9:00
Visual Supports- Short Video
Introduction- This may be in paragraph form. Remember to establish eye contact early on and
continuously throughout your speech.
Opening Lines- Bullying is something that everyone becomes more aware of as they enter school and interact
with other people, whether it is children or teens. I came into high school as a very nave girl and I had no idea
what kind of abuse other students took from their peers. High school has made me aware of the negative
interactions that many have experienced throughout their life.
Preview Statement- All types of bullying take a toll on a person, it can be physical, verbal, indirect or cyber
abuse. These types of bullying all have negative effects on an individual and a lot of the times, these methods of
abuse are overlooked.
Reason for Listening- Its painful to experience or watch a person being destroyed by the insecurities of others.
If you or someone you know is going through this abuse, it is easy to relate. When a daughter or son comes
home to a parent in tears or a sibling isnt acting themselves or a friend starts to hate themselves, all because of
the negative influence of another person, you hurt for them. How can you not? Sometimes its hard to realize
the effect bullying can have on someone until it happens to someone you love. I specifically chose this topic to
inform the students and parents that arent aware of what can be going on with their child or friends.

Conclusion- This may be written in paragraph form. Remember to leave your panel with optimal eye
contact during your conclusion.

Bullying does take place frequently in a variety of ways. Whether the abuse occurs physically, verbally,
indirectly, or in a cyber-attack, bullying can effect even the strongest of people. However, to let those cruel
words, those shoves and punches, those mean texts and hurtful tweets define you as a person, is just allowing
them to destroy you. Once you give in to the lies and the abuse, its simple, you have officially lost. What you
focus on becomes reality. Everybody carries anger inside. But also happiness. Those who focus on anger will always
be angry. Those who focus on happiness will- Ben Mikaelsen, Touching Spirit Bear . With that, if there was one

piece of advice I could give to the victims of a bully, it would be that life will get better.
