Reading
Students will receive new reading books this week and will work within
their reading group to concisely summarize specific chapters. They
will also continue to engage in using context clues to determine the
meaning of unknown words and then write their thought process in
understanding the meaning of these words. Discussion will also take
place on determining fact from opinion in written works.
The spelling assessment will be on Sunday with new words also
provided. The grammar focus will be on the proper use of commas in
writing.

Math
This week we continue unit
seven, which focuses on exponents and negative numbers.
We will complete lessons 7.4,
7.5 and 7.6 in which students
will learn how to use parenthesis in correctly solving word
problems, will learn how to correctly apply order of operations
in solving equations, and be
introduced to the proper construction of line graphs.
