In order to understand why the war ended the way it did the students will be able to
participate in learning stations where they will write about United States
involvement with the Holocaust, create a map of the axis/allied powers, listen to
speeches by Adolf Hitler, develop a connection of famous events/people, terms by

Instructional Procedures:
1. I will greet the students as they walk into class
2. I play the goose-step clip (2 min)
3. After the video I will have the students grab their things and walk quietly
down to the media center (2 Min)
4. Once at the media center I will divide the class into five groups. (2 Min)
5. Group one will be working on the Map Activity at a set of computers, the
directions are on the worksheet attached. The students will color in a blank
map the axis powers in red and the allied powers in blue. The student will
also make a circle on the areas where an extermination camp was. I have
given the students two websites in order to complete the task;

http://www.theshekel.org/article_ghetto_fighting.html. &

http://www.nysm.nysed.gov/citizensoldier/conflicts/WWIIeto/.(8 min)
(Visual) (Application)
6. While they are on that station group two will be around another group of
computers listening to Hitlers famous speeches

3BDD6A2B0A06757028493BDD6A2B) I will have the students work in their
group and try to find the main idea(s) of his passage. ( Analyze) (Music)
7. Group three will be charged with the task of the memory game. I have made
15 matches. There is a person/event/type of government that corresponds
with a certain phrase. The students will go in turn around a circle and try to
make matches. Once a student flips up two cards he or she must turn both of
those cards back over so that nothing is showing. If a student makes a match
then they get to go again until they are unable to make another match
( Comprehension) (Interpersonal intelligences) ( Verbal/linguistc)
8. Group four will be the American involvement activity. This requires the
student to use the article that I have placed at the station. (See attachments)
The students will read the article as a group then they will be answering
questions based off of the reading. ( Comprehension) ( Knowledge)
(Interpersonal intelligence)
9. While that is happening the last group will be on computers doing a web
quest. I provide the websites that they need in order to answer the questions.
see the attached papers ; http://www.luketravels.com/auschwitz/facts.htm
(Knowledge)
10.Each group will have approximately 8 minutes to do each station. Once the
allotted time is up then the students will move clockwise to a different
station.
11.Once all groups are finished then I will allow them to continue to work on
their worksheets and they will turn ln all their worksheets for a grade.
12.IF there is any time at the end then I will do a ticket to leave activity. 10
different students must say 10 different things that they had learned that day
from everything they had learned.
ENL Provision:

If I encounter a student that needs extra help with understanding words then
I will take the worksheets and translate them into his/hers traditional
language.

IEP Provision:
If I have a student with an IEP of difficulty reading then I will give the student the
worksheets the day before class so that they could be sure of the meaning of the
assignments.
Closure:

My closure activity if I have time will be a ticket to leave. I will ask the students to
tell me one thing that they had learned or relearned hat day we were there.
Evaluation of Learning:
In order to evaluate what the students have gained from my lesson I will go through
weigh their responses to each activity when I grade so that I may correct any
misconceptions that students may have.
Independent Practice:
The homework that is given will be to finish up any activity that they did not happen
to get done. I will not need to enrich the material due to the fact that the students
are doing stations and that the stations have a lot of work to do and will more than
likely not finish.
