ABSTRACT
The incidence of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) in the world, especially
in Indonesia is still quite high, although the Indonesian government and WHO have
made various preventive efforts, case detections and treatment of STIs.,
RSUP.H.Adam Malik Medan, a government hospital that has become a referral
health institution in North Sumatra must be able to recognize the figures of the
groups at high risk for STIs are, in order to perform prevention, diagnosis and
treatment more efficiently.
This study is a descriptive research and the research design used is a cross
sectional study. The populations and samples in this study are all patients who
suffered from sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in RSUP. H. Adam Malik Medan
in 2009 with a total of 67 people with total sampling method. The data were then
processed by using SPSS and interpreted in table forms.
The purpose of implementing this research is to describe the Sexually
Transmitted Infections (STI) in patients of Poly Dermatology RSUP Haji Adam Malik
Medan, on the basis of type of STI, sex, age, educational level, occupation and
marital status.
The results of this study indicate that Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
that most often happened was condyloma acuminate (29.9%), thats followed by
gonorrhea(28,4%), siphilis(7,5%),NSGI(4,5%) and herpes simplex(3%)in the age
group 30-34 years (22.4%), in which female patients (50.7%) were found to be more
than male patients (49,3%) in low (14,9%),medium(67,2%) and high(17,9%)
educational level and higher frequencies in the groups of patients who work (53,7)
and have been married(59,7%).
From this research, it is known that the patients of Sexually Transmitted
Infections (STIs) were dominated by the groups with Condyloma Acuminata, more
frequent to be found in female in the age group 30-34 years, in medium levels of
education,work and have been married.
