Summer Edition Newsletter

Summer Activities
First Grade:

Kindergarten

Encourage your
child to read as
much as possible.
Visit the library
and join the
summer reading
program.
Journal-let your
child write about
the events of the
day throughout
the summer! Let
them help you
write grocery lists
or to-do lists.

Writing sentences
with proper
capitalization,
punctuation,
spacing and
spelling.
Reading chapter
books and
remembering to
summarize what
they have read
after each chapter.
Adding and subtracting fluently
within 20.

Second Grade:
Read everyday
(variety of texts:
newspapers,
magazines, books,
etc.)
Practice mental
math with addition
and subtraction
Start a summer
journal, writing
poems, letters,
lists, etc.
