Human Cloning
Human cloning is very controversial many people strongly support it and some people
strongly disagree with it. Cloning has been going on for around 100 years but scientists have just
begun to understand the cloning of humans. People that disagree with cloning say it is because of
their faith, safety reasons and the fear the clones will change the world for the worse. People that
agree think that they will serve as tools for obtaining desired traits in organisms, research and
reconnect people to their loved ones
People who agree (mainly scientists) anticipate that that cloning will help people
reconnect with loved ones that have died. With only a piece of hair or some skin that has been
preserved from before or within a time that the skin and cells die according to the highly
regarded website Pbs.org says in the near future scientists will successfully be able to recreate a
humanbut the problem they are facing is many countries prevent it and there is a law that
prohibits the use of federal money on human embryo research of any kind(www.pbs.org).
Using clone technology to create clones for research purposes could be very helpful for
the study of genetics. Researchers would have a better understanding of genes and the effects
they have on the human body. In the future scientists may be able to alter these genes and help
prevent genetic diseases like Down syndrome, sickle cell disease and cancer. Also scientists
could determine the causes and effects of cancer and other dangerous diseases.
Another Pro to Cloning Is that we will be able to obtain desired traits in not only humans
but any organism. Organisms will be able to suit the needs for whatever scientific research is
being done on them. Using genetic alteration scientists will be able to replicate and change
organisms needed for research and would no longer need to harm animals that were not intended
specifically for research. Also with this new research healing and recovery times would be
lowered because they could clone the person or organisms cells to they can recover easier and
faster.
A huge con to cloning humans would be the lack of diversity. Cloning is the process of
creating identical genes which would cause a lack of diversity for humans
(Humancloningproject.weebly.com). Scientists believe that the lack of difference will lower the
human races ability to adapt. In our society today in schools, commercials and other social media
outlets they are all saying diversity is key and cloning would diminish that concept. A real world
example for a this would be if a clone was changed or created for subpar purposes and hurts
someone then there are thousands of other clones that look just like the criminal.
Reproductive cloning is very unsafe. At least 95% of human cloning experiments have
foreshadowed failures by miscarriages, stillbirths, and life-threatening disease some scientists
think no clones are completely healthy. The cloning could not be developed in humans without
putting the physical safety of the clones and the women who have them at
risk(www.geneticsandsociety.org).People do not want to endanger their lives even more by
having a defective body part put on them.
Religion is one of the most powerful factors toward human clonings admirable fate. The
trouble is that the old era may not wish to give way to the new(jetpress.org).Priests and
churches may not be able to give up the status they have earned for thousands of years by
scientist recreating life other than a live birth. Giving scientists the right to clone would put a lot
of people in a really hard spot in their faith and that is a huge reason it is banned in most
countries.
Human cloning has many bad things that come along with it like concerns with faith,
safety fears and that clones will change the world for the worse. But there are also a lot of good
things that involve cloning like they will serve as tools for obtaining desired traits in organisms,
research and reconnect people to their loved ones. But are they really necessary? If clones were
produced in major factories around the world like in Star Wars it would cause so much conflict
and cloning could potentially have some good but the practice would have to be perfected.
