CALL in English teaching and Learning: The Role Of Video As Media to Help

Learner Receive Material During English Learning Process


Abstract
Video is a harmonious combination between the visual (moving pictures) and audio
(voice). Video as a media in the English teaching and learning showed a positive impact.
Video can help teachers to discover a new approach that can be used to attract interest in
learning. Video can be the alternative to overcome slump lessons in English learning as well
as enhance the ability of learners to be fluent in the language they are studying. As the
bennefits, the use of video in the learning process can generate new desires and interests,
increase motivation and understanding of the students, presents an interesting and reliable
data, and facilitate the interpretation of the data and condense information. In addition to
having many benefits, this media is also very effective for elementary school students until
university students because people generally like moving things rather than text to clarify the
narrative.
This presentation aims to report the results of investigating study in the use of video
as an interesting media to help facilitate the transfer of material. A review of the literature on
language teaching using the video as a communicative media will be reviewed. Finally, the
presentation will discuss on how the role of video in the English learning process.
