Week of May 31June 4

Reading The early portion of this week will
include continuing with a review of proper test
taking strategies and practice reading
comprehension questions to help prepare for the
MAP reading and language tests on Monday and
Tuesday.
In addition, students will continue reading their
group reading book. In connection with our current
Unit of Inquiry, How We Express Ourselves, they
will be asked to write a letter to one of the main
characters of their book, in part to develop the
strategy of questioning in their reading.
Students will also receive their new spelling list on
Sunday.

Math
Due to some extra work with students
relating to adding and subtracting with
negative numbers, and the fact that
MAP testing is this week (Monday),
the unit seven math assessment has
been delayed until Tuesday. Sunday
and Monday will be spent conducting
review exercises.
The latter portion of the week will involve beginning unit eight. The students will review ways to compare
fractions in order to determine which
are greater than others.
