ABSTRACT

Three visible spectrophotometric methods have been developed for the determination of allylestrenol either in pure
form or in their pharmaceutical formulations. The developed methods are based on reaction of allylestrenol with 1,2napthoquinoe sulphonic acid sodium salt, bromocresol green and crystal violet. They are quantified
spectrophotometrically at their absorption maximum at 346 nm (Method A), 421nm (Method B) and 585 nm (Method
C). Beer's law was obeyed in the concentration ranges of 60-80 g/ml, 30-50 g/ml and 50-80 g/ml for the three
methods respectively. The colors were found to be stable for more than 4 hours. The proposed methods were
successfully applied for determination of the allylestrenol in their pharmaceutical formulations and the results
compared favorably to that of reference methods, hence are recommended for quality control and routine analysis.

Abstract:
Establish a RP-HPLC method for the determination of content of allylestrenol
tablets.Method:Diamonsil C18 column(4.6 mm250 mm,5 m)was used as the stationary
phase.MeOH was used as the mobile phase. The detection wavelength was 215
nm.Results:The method was proved to be linear in the range of 40800 gmL-1with a
regression coefficient of 0.999 9.The recovery percentage of the method was 100.8%101.9%
with RSD1.0%(n=3).The RSD of average contents of intra-day and inter-day was 0.8% and
1.1% respectively. Conclusion:This method is simple, rapid, accurate and is suitable for the
determination of the content of allylestrenol tablets
