Applicability.

The procedure applies to all City departinents.

Responsibilityforcompliance.

The Department Head is responsible for assuring compliance with this procedure.

lV.

Scrap and surplus equipment disposal procedure.

Equipment shall be declared scrap or surplus by the functional department head and approved for
disposal in writing by the Mayor. Having been so declared and approved for disposal, the following
procedure shall be followed by the department head:

to have the equipment stripped of all usable parts (i.e., meters, motors, Sauges, batteries) if

not already accomplished.


(2) Have a complete list of the equipment properly identified.
(3) Put equipment in best possible condition.
(4) Place equipment in an area for optimum reviewing.
(5) Obtain three written estimates from scrap dealers or prospective purchasers.

(6) Scrapsalesinexcessof$l,000peritemmustbeapprovedbytheBoardofAldermen.
(7) Dispose of the equipmentto highest responsive scrap dealers or prospective purchaser.
(8) Properly record all dor-uments of sale.

(9) AllscrapsalesmustbereportedinwritingtotheBoardofAldermenwithinamonthafterthesale
is completed.
B. Surplus equipment and residue inventory.

From time to time the City of Ansonia finds it necessary


inventory and surplus equipment. This procedure outlines the instructions to be followed by the Finance
Department in the disposition of these items in order to optimize the return revenues. lt is the intent of
this procedure to require the establishment of maximum realistic control over usage, scrap, surplus and

Determine the needs of other departments by circulating a listing of surplus equipment or residual
inventory items.

(2) Where no requirement exists within the City departments, procedure as outlined in Subsection A(1)

through (9) above

V. Designation of Funds from

Scrap Sales

All proceeds of scrap sales are to be deposited with the Department of Finance.
