PROJECT TITTLE
Background:
There are some sewing
defects faced in garment
industry- like open seam,
miss stitch, puckering,
mismatch of stitching
thread, uneven stitch
length. Previously based on
the experience we adjusted
the pressure of the presser
foot to reduce puckering and
there was not any ready
reckoner for presser foot
pressure.

Research Methodology:

Analysis:

For
medium
weight cotton,
slight change
in pressure of
presser
foot
has no effect
on puckering.
Light
weight
fabric
very
hard to handle
and have more
puckering
problems.
We dont get

Seam
puckering
depends
on
various factors
like
thread
tension, fabric
handling etc.

Detailed study of diferent presser foot and devices to measure pressure.

Collect most commonly used fabric for ready reckoner for an ex poly-georgette

Cut the fabric sample according to BSI standard and do stitching

Objective:

To develop ready
reckoner
for
measuring
pressure
on
different fabrics for
sewing machine.

Reduce the set-up

time and improve
the stitch quality
using
proper
presser-foot
pressure.

According to AATCC puckering scale, decide the appropriate pressure

Conclusion:

Built the reckoner according to the AATCC scale

Post R&D it is found

that 2ply, 3ply, 4ply
of fabrics are tested
by keeping diferent
parameters constant
