Once valid the arrangement will enable a limited number of young Slovenians and Australians to
gain working, study and travelling experience in Australia and respectively in Slovenia.
After the signing ceremony Minister mavc met with Madame Speaker Bronwyne Bishop. Both
agreed that the working holiday arrangement is the foundation for the increased cooperation
between the countries, not only in the exchange of young and students, but more so for the
strenghtening of ties in the area of economy, science, culture, sport and in other fields.

Very special was the meeting with the member of parliament of Slovenian background Tanya

Plibersek. She was a minister in the past, but is currently the Deputy Leader of the Opposition
Labour Party and Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs.

The talks concluded with the dicussion with the Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, Parliamentary
Secretary of the Attorney General and the Secretary to the Minister for Social Affairs.
Minister welcomed with all interlocutors signing of the working holiday arrangement and
expressed strong interest to resolve the question of avoidance of the double taxation, because it
represents the main barrier to the investments on both sides. He encouraged closer
interparliamentary cooperation.

At the evening national day reception at the Slovenian Embassy in Canberra Minister mavc
addressed Australian representatives, diplomatic corps and members of Slovenian community
and Slovenian businessmen. After the reception he had a separate meeting with Slovenian
businessmen emphasiszing the importance of the Slovenian Australian Chamber of Commerce
that was opened on 13 June 2015 in Sydney.
