The Ecosystem

Ecosystem
Anecosystemis acommunityof living organisms in conjunction with
thenonliving components of their environment (things like air, water
and mineral soil), interacting as a system. These biotic andabiotic
components are regarded as linked together through nutrient cycles
and energy flows. As ecosystems are defined by the network of
interactions among organisms, and between organisms and their
environment, they can be of any size but usually encompass specific,
limited spaces(although some scientists say that the entire planet is an
ecosystem)

Biotic
BioticFactors:are all of

the living things in an

environment.

Abiotic
AbioticFactors:: are non-living physical and

chemical elements of an environment. These

factors are important for the survival of the
organisms of that environment.
(See biotic factors.)

Ecological System
The relationship between

the biotic community and

the abiotic environment is
known as the Ecological
System or simply
Ecosystem.
