What are the broad goals of your unit?

Content Questions

Students will gain an understanding of what foods they


should eat, how much of the different food groups they
should eat and how those foods, especially fruits and
vegetables, affect their health.

Unit Summary

Students will learn about My Plate, the food graphic organizer from the United States
Department of Agriculture, and how much of each food group they should be eating each day.
They will also learn more about two categories of nutrients, vitamins and minerals. Students
will learn that different fruits and vegetables contain different vitamins and minerals. Students
will also gain an understanding why unhealthy foods are not good for the body.
