Development of a Transformative Safety Leadership Program for Construction Educators
SafeSWAG, In progress, 2015
Co-investigator on industry partner funded research aimed at encouraging the education of
IIF safety principles for construction students. Project involves development of white
paper and research papers on IIF safety principles, development of safety briefs and
exercises for construction courses, continuous development of an online repository for
IIF construction safety briefs and exercises, the development of a national workshop for
educators, and the research investigation into companies that have adopted IIF and its
impact on the company.
Doctoral Researcher
Ethics education and its relationship to undergraduate construction students professional
ethical sensitivity, Completed, 2014
My doctoral research focuses on how ethics education in construction academe affects the
ethical sensitivity of construction students to ethical issues of the construction industry.
This research employed a mixed methods approach. The cross-sectional study involved
the development, piloting, and administration of a test instrument called the test for ethical
sensitivity in construction (TESC), to understand student ability to recognize ethical issues
of the construction industry. In addition, this study involved qualitative investigation of

Provided mentorship for incoming graduate students at both masters degree and doctoral
degree levels, providing assistance with cultural adjustment, program advisement, and
professional development.
