Dear Hiring Administrator,

I know firsthand that education is the path to freedom. After surviving the first two decades of my life under an oppressive
government, I immigrated to America and made my first dream a reality: I became a teacher. While I have worked
successfully as an educator in this country for the last two decades, it is now time for me to realize my second vision: to
influence education at a different level by working as an administrator. It is my sincere hope that you will grant me this
opportunity as I eagerly apply for new leadership positions in the Hillsboro School District.
While my resume will provide you with a general outline of my educational and work experiences, please find a few other
listed skills which I believe are particularly suited for this position:

Career and technical education pathway program development, curriculum, and grant writing experience
20 years in public education
TAG TOSA , and STEM TOSA experience
5 years of active collaboration with administrative teams in transformational leadership as a Secondary
Instructional Coach
Leadership experience in high school restructuring with the Oregon Small School Initiative as a Science and
Technology Academy Leader
Change agent with school communities, administrators, parents, students and staff
7 years of experience in providing staff development in effective teaching strategies, adolescent literacy,
assessment for learning, making standards work, professional learning community collaboration, and datadriven decision making

I am currently an Advanced Placement teacher at Liberty High School, where I teach AP Chemistry and Health Services.
Ive worked as a Secondary Instructional Coach at the middle and high school leve,l as a new teacher mentor, intervention
specialist, STEM TOSA and TAG TOSA. I am able to creatively move matters along and provide strategic leadership
necessary to ensure that quality programs are provided to all students.
The instructional coaching assignments I served in during the past five years allowed me to support the entire spectrum of
student population and staff from middle to high school. In this role I was strategic and resourceful in finding solutions to
challenging situations, yet focused on creating a collaborative environment where professionals can examine their own
work to improve student achievement and assure proper interventions for closing the gap. By exhibiting behaviors of
support, I developed trusting relationships with teachers, administrators and parents. The intensive training and
certification opportunities enhanced my ability to conduct learning-focused conversations with teachers about instruction,
student work and student behavior. In collaboration with building principals, I helped plan and facilitate professional
development to aid multiple district initiative efforts.
My leadership style is dynamic, assertive, and collaborative. I have the willingness to get the job done along with the
ability to communicate, motivate, and inspire those around me to demonstrate team spirit.
In terms of my personal growth, I continue to invest and internalize the ethics and practices of true respect for cultural
differences. I believe that cultural competency must be incorporated into an organizations core values. As a lifelong
learner, my current endeavors are to continue to improve my Spanish literacy skills. I work and reflect on my dispositions
and actions that lead to improved cross-cultural relations in the classroom and the community. I have a high level of
respect for cultural diversity due to my own upbringings and cultural norms.
I have much to contribute to the diverse community of Hillsboro, and consider this a wonderful growth opportunity. I look
forward to meeting with you and your interview team to discuss in detail how my diverse skills and experience will allow
me to make valuable contributions to the school and district. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,

Ramona L. Toth
