LEE WESTBROOK
MADISON COUNTY CIRCUIT CLERK
To the voters of Madison County,
I want to thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Madison County Circuit Clerk for
more than 20 years. Last April, when I decided to retire, | asked Michael Pantin to place his
name on the ballot as a candidate for Circuit Clerk. I am thankful that he accepted the challenge.
Since that time, I have been teaching Michael about our Circuit Clerk's office. He
understands more about the challenges of my office than any other candidate.
Michael has a background in Information Technology. This kniowledge will be so helpful
as we prepare for and conduct future elections. Madison County has purchased new electronic
poll books. The Circuit Clerk must load the database onto poll books prior to each election. And,
following each election, the Circuit Clerk will download the voter history and transfer that
information to each voter's record. Our court system is now ready for the next step in the
electronic courts, Michael can lead the Circuit Clerk’s office to achieve these goals.
Michael is a law student. A law degree is not necessary to hold the office of Circuit
Clerk. But, the knowledge he has gained will not be wasted. The Circuit Clerk spends a great
deal of time in the courtroom. And, the responsibilities of our office are mandated by statute.
How helpful his education will be.
‘When Michael is elected, I intend to hire him to work in my office. We will have more
than four months for intensive training. If you are satisfied with the way my office is conducting
your business, I ask that you vote for Michael Pantin as your next Circuit Clerk. | feel that he
will continue to operate the Circuit Clerk's office in much the way I have.
Inclosing, allow me to thank you for the privilege of serving as your Circuit Clerk. It has
been an honor.
Sincerely,
je
Westbrook
