Apple pie

Ingredients
6.25 cups thinly sliced apples
1/2 cup white sugar
1.5 tablespoon butter
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch single crust pie

Directions
Prepare your pastry for a two crust pie. Wipe, quarter, core, peel, and slice ap
ples; measure to 6.25 cups.
Combine sugars and cinnamon. The amount of sugar used depends on apples and or t
aste.
Arrange apples in layers in pastry lined pie plate. Sprinkle each layer with sug
ar and cinnamon. Dot top layer with small pieces of butter. Cover with top crust
.
Place on lowest rack in oven preheated to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Bake fo
r 10 minutes, then reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Bak
e for 30 to 35 minutes longer.
Sprinkle sugar on top after cooking ,when still warm.
