Mrs. Halls 7th Grade STEAM Science Class!


Class Expectations: The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and
Mathematics) program is an academically intensive program including our talented
and gifted students. To succeed student must complete all classwork, homework, and projects. Students
will also need to complete and pass quarterly, semester and an End of Corse Exams (EOC).
Be Responsible Be on time, prepared, listening without interrupting, following directions,
participating
Respect Yourself and Others Take turns talking, no put downs, ask before using materials, use good
manners
Be Safe Keep hands/feet to yourself, use materials appropriately, keep your space neat, stay seated
Have a Good Attitude! Come to class ready to learn, and participate, every day is a new day!

Consequences for not meeting classroom expectations


1st offense A verbal warning
2nd offense Carbon copy note sent home: MUST be returned signed the NEXT day!/ phone call home
3rd Offense Behavior Improvement Session/ phone call home
4th Offense Referral to guidance counselor/ Principal

Binder- you should have a 3 ring binder that shares science and math
Notebook paper for your binder
3 page dividers for the SCIENCE section of your binder
Pencils / Blue or black pens
Spiral bound notebook with approximately 100 pages

Requirements/Grading Your nine week grade will be based on the following:


35% Labs & Activities
30% Tests & Quizzes
25% UPAs & Projects
10% Class Work & Homework

Notebook Organization
Section 1 Resources
Section 2 Bell Work
Section 3 Graded Work

Citizenship Grade
Your citizenship grade will be affected by: classroom behavior and attitude, tardiness, and work
completed in class and at home.

Extra Credit
At the beginning of each week I will post a video on the first page of my website. Watch this video and
e-mail me a one paragraph summary. The summary must have correct spelling, grammar and word
usage. All answers must be e-mailed by 11pm Friday night. Each summary can earn you 1 point.
You may earn up to 20 points per quarter by reading any ONE of the following books, per quarter and
passing the online test. You must take the test in my classroom.
Other extra credit might become available throughout the quarter.
1st Quarter - The Maze Runner by James Dashner
2nd Quarter - Lost in a River of Grass by Carolrhonda Ya
3rd Quarter - Scat by Carl Hiaasen, Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
4th Quarter - House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, Maximum Ride: The Angle Experiment by James Patterson

Classroom Policies
Restroom Every time you leave my class to go to the restroom you are missing important instruction,
for this reason, please limit your restroom trips. You must sign out in the front of the room, if you
leaving too often I will call home. You must have the hall pass to leave my room.
Hall Passes Please read the Restroom comments. You must have a hall pass to leave my room.
Agendas You must bring your agenda to class every day. It will help you organize your assignments!!
You will be graded on writing down the homework EVERY DAY!
Absences When you return to school please visit the Absent Station on the side of the room. Check
the calendar, see what your class did and check the folder for any paperwork you missed. You have the
same number of days you were gone to complete this work, speak with me personally if you are
worried about this timeline. All work that was due the day you were absent will be due the day you
return. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO COMPLETE AND TURN IN YOUR MISSING WORK!
Homework homework is due the day after it was given (unless otherwise stated). I will accept
homework for half credit if it is one day late, and no credit for any days thereafter. Homework (and
anything else being turned in) will need to be completed in pencil or blue/black ink.
I will do my best to keep all Grades up to date. Students will receive their graded papers to
keep in their notebook. Grades are posted weekly in the classroom. I have a teacher website that
can be found under teachers on the BRMS website. It includes what was done each week and the
homework. I am looking forward for a fun and exciting school year. Please feel free to contact me
with any concerns or questions you may have.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program is an academically intensive

My website will be a very important tool for parents. On my website you will find many important
classroom details including: each days homework, what was/will be completed at school, what and where
papers should be in the students interactive notebook and binder, extra credit opportunities, each days
bellwork and links to print missing work. Checking this website weekly will allow you, the parent, to know
what is going on in my classroom.
E-mail is the fastest way to reach me if you have a concern or would like to know your students grade
in my class. I am able to check and respond my e-mail quickly during the day. When I need to return phone
calls I must wait till the end of the day or early in the morning. If you have sent me an e-mail and have not
received a responded please check your e-mails blocked/spam folder. If you have not signed up for FOCUS
the online grade book please contact your students guidance officer.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns!! It is much easier to help students
